What are you watch collecting aims for 2025?

@MtV has posted his annual retrospective look at the year https://omegaforums.net/threads/what-were-your-favorite-acquisitions-in-2024-watches.179362/ which is one of my favourite threads.

This always gets me thinking about my collection, where I’d like it to go and what steps I’m going to take over the next year or so to get it there.

As I alluded to in the above thread, starting my own business in 2024 means watch collecting funds were very low in the second half of 2024 and will continue to be so through 2025. As such I have some loose long terms goals for the next few years, and separate aims for 2025.

My aims for 2025:
1. Exotic Camaro. I’ve had 3 exotics already and they never quite ticked the box for me, due to either condition or being 2 register rather than 3. So I’m still on the lookout for a 3 register 7220 T (3rd ex) exotic dial.
(A couple of pics of other Camaro exotics I’ve had)

2. 60’s Seamaster with uncommon dial types such as textured dials, grey dials, technic and companion.
I love these, even though they’re slightly small for me at 34mm. However, with my watch fund limitations for 2025, this is the obvious place for me to focus next year.
I’m open to what pops up but would like to see another technic dial, a military style, Speedmaster companion and perhaps another linen dial (some examples below).

Beyond 2025 I’d like to think I’ll be able to go after another 321 Speedmaster, hopefully a CB professional and an Ed White, a late 90’s Rolex 16710/16570 and possibly a 36mm Explorer, a vintage SM300 and a vintage Heuer Carrera (as well
As more Camaros, always more Camaros!).

So, what are your watch collecting plans for 2025?

I’m not sure if I’m more, or less, ambitious than you and although I’ve never really thought about a Camaro, the one you’ve posted here looks really nice.

So, on a less ambitious scale;

1. Buy absolutely no watches in 2025,

2. If I can’t avoid temptation, spend no more than £200-250 on any watch, which probably means more Seikos, or revisits to Ali Express

3. Think about selling some,

4. Get my 165.003 repaired/ demagnetised?

5. Obtain parts for two of my Longines.

Love that no-date two-register Camaro and silver Seamaster 600!

Not to spend 31k on watches in 2025...
Wise decision. Ratcheting it up to $35k will open more doors.

building up the courage to let some watches go…so hard…On the same note, my son is moving out, so 2025 is looking delicious.

This may come close to heresy, but there’s only one watch I’d really really like. This is a limited edition of the world’s current most accurate watch.

Why heresy? Everyone has all kinds of watches here.

I'm with everyone. I have some that I need to let go to free up some funds. Or maybe consolidate for a bigger piece and still looking at a perpetual calendar.

Did that with a few recent acquisitions. Had a couple I didn't wear for various reasons, figured they're not doing any good sitting around so might as well trade them for something I've been wanting and will wear. After the first time it becomes easier to part with them and move them on.

My plan is to buy a G-Shock DW-5000R and try as hard as I can not to buy a white Speedy. I will eventually get one, but I've got other goals in mind for that money next year so I have to try and resist the siren's call. 😜

Move on watches I bought because I quite liked them, but liked them more at the price they were. Stupid mistake I have made a lot over the years. Less so now but does happen.
Once they have gone and I’ve sold one of my two Kermit’s I would like to stick around the 5/6 number but one of them to be a PP 5205G. But spending that amount on one watch would be a big step for me which, I still wrestle with despite having wife approval.
My grail 5960P is out of range for me and the 5205 is as close to it I could ever dream of getting. Compromise? Won’t know until I have the 5205 in my hands and see if it evokes the right feelings to part with the money.

Hope all your 2025 journeys go in the intended direction.
Regards.

Not planning on many purchases in 25 but if a nice 60’s coat hanger Seamaster with crosshairs were to come up, well I might be tempted.

Thanks for this thread. I feel exactly the same way when going through Matt's thread !

My goal for 2025 and beyond :

1) Sell a few watches to be able to keep playing (I'm really good at procrastinating this part of the game as most of this community it appears)
2) Go for the Omega models I don't own and wish I do, in the nicest conditions I can afford (Case/Dial) :
- 30T2RG (Not the smallest ones, either in SS or Gold)
- T17 (in SS staybrite or Gold)
- a 27CHRO
3) Stay open to upgrades, extensions to black or rare dials of my existing collection of 50/60s Seamasters & Constellations.

Hope 2025 will be a good year to you all & be somehow brighter than 2024 !

Thanks David for a very interesting and entertaining post!
The ”danger” with these (for me) is that if I read my post in the end of 2025, and with zero achievements, that would be very depressing.
😁

But here we go:

A Speedy 105.012-65
A Heuer Carrera 3647N (black dialed)
A Rolex Sub 5513
Building on my Speedy collection with 70´s references

And David - them Camaros - WOW!
🥰

Cheers!
