I'm with everyone. I have some that I need to let go to free up some funds. Or maybe consolidate for a bigger piece and still looking at a perpetual calendar.
You want to offload that moonphase 3576.50 let me know..
Aims????? there are no such target priorities as far as I'm concerned, I just cruise along taking pot shots at targets of opportunity as they present themselves. There is no methodology to my madness!
Last year I said: for 2024 Iam just looking for a dj 36. Obviously it turned out to be a wishfull thinking ( by the way, thank you Omega for the beautiful releases during 2024)
So far my goals for 2025 are:
1/ Get the new speedmaster flight qualified.
2/ Get a tudor black bay chrono. I love the heritage model from 2017.
I’m going to try not to buy any watches in 2025 (that was also my plan for 2024, but I failed - a lot!) instead, I plan to service all those that need it. Let’s see how it pans out. Failure is always an option.
1 — Spending more time with my family… and less time looking at and thinking about watches. This was also a resolution for last year, with mitigated success.
2 — Venturing into Speedmasters. I am ready now. I have spent the last year studying, which was super interesting. I wanted to pull the trigger a couple of times this year, but patience and discipline were key! Once I open this world, I know my budget will explode.
3 — Focus on condition, condition and condition for any other piece. Would love to add a 168.005 or 167.005, a 2852, a Geneve cursive in 18K, some special dials too.
This year I sold three of my watches, I posted here several times. Still love the chunky-ones, but they tend to be too big for me:
Speedmaster Mark II
Speedmaster 125
Seamaster Chrono-Quartz
Nevertheless, in 2025 I hope to buy a full-set Speedmaster X-33 Gen. 2 🙂
For me, 2024 was the year of my first watch, at least since the Casio I got in middle school. I now have 1 watch I can wear, 1 watch being serviced, and a 176.007 that is about 60% rusted and would take a mountain of cash plus donor movement to restore.
Goals for this year are to be on the lookout for a Lemania 1340 movement for cheap, and try to only buy 1 watch. I will likely never have more than 5. Of course I say that now. Watches I want are:
1. vintage Speedmaster
2. Ranchero
3. old Seamaster diver
4. Something nice from another brand? Like an old Blancpain diver old Rolex, who knows. But I will mostly stick with Omega. If I try to learn too much about other brands, this will turn from a hobby to a part time profession. And I have enough of those.
OK, after reading this thread, you've motivated me, I'm resolving to pull out a dozen watches to sell.
I want to hunt down a Daini 62MAS to complete my 62MAS collection, and I'd be happy to add a no-crown-guard Sub and/or a gilt 1016 Explorer if an appealing one happens to come my way. And I'm always on the lookout for classic pieces that I've never owned, e.g. a Zenith cal 135.
In terms of Omega, for the last couple of years, I've been toying with an Ed White, but my interest in Speedmasters (all Omega sport models, in fact) has continued to wane. Similarly, I think I may be tiring of 1950s and 60s Seamasters and Constellations, although I do like the bracelets. My Omega focus is circling back to the 30mm-caliber pieces that originally attracted me to the brand.
Turned over fair amount of my collection in ‘24, upgrading in most instances. Sold many GMTs (more than expected) on this very forum to great members forging more friendships.
Surprisingly, my Omega collection expanded with the addition of an EW321 & Snoopy both arriving late in the year from AD.
As for ‘25, been hunting for a pristine Omega Soccer dial and Cal 910 Flightmaster (can never have enough 😬). Additionally, would love to add a Rolex Red Sub that ticks all the boxes.
My goal is to become very knowledgeable about Polerouters so that the next one I buy will hopefully not give me headaches like the one I recently bought.
I ordered @Mazoue's book The Polerouter which I expect will be very helpful, and I'll use the website universalgenevepolerouter with it's helpful reference table and other information on it.
