Thanks Ashley, you'd spend your last Aussie Dollar to get it! That confirms that it would be a good one to try to get !!!

In fairness, I don't have /quite/ enough Aussie dollars to afford it, and our dollars are not worth nearly as much as they were before the EuroZone started completely falling apart at the seams.

Not fair really that the Greek disaster makes my watches cost 10% more.

And here you moaning about currency devaluation to a Brit??!
Hey, you've been lucky enough to hide in Asia, where there are no students setting fire to buildings 😜

haha Fair Point!
I also converted 95% of my cash into Asian currencies before the GBP dropped 33%+!!
None of the big banks in the UK would listen to me when I told them of the looming crash back in 2007, so I sold my Financial companies, sold the farm and moved to Malaysia! I am worried about the Eurozone and that's why I'm spending the last of my sterling on watches, it stops me fretting over currency devaluation and gives me a fun hobby 😉
Personally unless China's economy goes into a major reverse - I think Australia will still seem like the place to be 😉

You know, it really is, we're sitting on the Saudi Arabia of minerals (and Uranium), and we like it like that.

The problem is, in spite of that, you've got the perception that trouble in Europe/USA causes a drop in production in China which causes a drop in demand for our base mineral exports, which causes the AUD to be seen as a "risk currency".

So when the Euro economies are hurting, the AUD drops and the USD gains.
And when the US economy drops the AUD drops and the USD gains.
And when the US economy gets stronger, the AUD drops and the USD gains.

I honestly have no idea how it works, I don't think anyone else does either. Bad news - AUD drops, good news, AUD drops, no news, AUD gets stronger. I don't understand markets, real estate or currency trading, I only know Taiwanese servers, Swiss watches and German cars. Which is why I'm in the process of selling servers, buying watches, and flipping cars. 😵‍💫

My cig packet calculation works like this - for our part of the world, as long as China is okay we're okay!

If you can get any mint condition Connie with an original factory gold bracelet for less than $5K you should be dancing on the first available table. Add a watch from the original owner with the box and bump the price another $500. I'd think a more realistic price would be about $6.5K.

... sold the farm and moved to Malaysia!

Now that's one place I'd love to visit. Definitely on our list. Bet there's some great places to eat 👍

Thai, Indo, Chinese (Schezuan), Japanese. So much great food on this side of the world that I'd take over a burger and chips any day. There's excellent fairly authentic Thai and other foods here, but it's still expensive.

Food might be amazing here but I do miss Pie and Mash, Battered Sausages and microwave meals.

Well, I'll find some dried ice and styrofoam packing + overnight courier. We'll do a big swap. The Aussies like all that starchy British food too 😀

I was having a look around for price comparisons and found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-CONST...611881362?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item43a9d16592

I'm not intending to buy it but it seemed like a pretty good deal?!

That's interesting that its a jumbo size, from memory Desmond wrote an article on those as being a larger sized model for the Asian markets.

Be VERY WARY of any watches coming from Central or South America. They over expose or outright Photoshop pictures to hide dial damage, all the watches from popular brands like Omega, Rolex, and Longines seem to be in too-good-to-be-true shape, and the seller can disappear in the event of a problem only to resurface with a new eBay ID a few months later. I never buy from there because of a string of bad experiences and I'm not the only one. I rank the area in the Top 3 for potential problems along with Eastern Europe (Ukraine in particular) and Vietnam. They have a very cavalier attitude towards truth in advertising.

Thanks for the advice - I am definately not going to buy it as its too risky and anyone that finds it on here should do the same "Do not risk buying it".
(I don't want to be responsible for introducing the thing here!)
