There are stainless De Villes with brick bracelets that are half that price - and they're friggin' gorgeous!

I might have a go on this weeks lottery !!.

I came across this watch and thought this is a watch i'd love in my collection !!

Omega DeVille Co-Axial Chronometer Automatic Chronograph Watch
Model # 4141.30
Model # 4141.30
Only problem is its...$18,350 !!

I know what you mean, that model was always a stunner, I saw one at a dealer here in Australia several years ago, and it wasn't no $18,000... try $56,000 (Australian Dollars) 😵‍💫

Once a watch arrives in this country, the dealer just takes the American pricing, multiplies it by 2-2.5 and attaches a price tag 🙁 Even the 18k Planet Ocean Cal 2500 is over $50,000 today, even with our dollar worth more than the US dollar.

I've seen those too and loved them, the SS might be easier to maintain the finish on the bricks than the gold. There's actually a two-subdial power reserve model with that bracelet:

The thing that's always had me curious is that in the De-Ville line, Omega had several of these bracelets in SS from memory, and they fitted case sizes ranging from 44mm in the chronograph, to 38.5mm and 41mm in the non-chrono models like the one above. The watch I think this belongs on more than any is the Hour Vision, which is my favorite of the current dress Omegas but as far as I can tell it has never been a factory offering.

Incidentally every time I look at this particular model with the power reserve, it makes me think of a Jaeger Le-Coultre RDM or something similar, which is not a bad thing at all.

I think the vintage Connie is a redial. The last "n" in Constellation is wrong - the end doesn't roll under. The edges of the pie pan are also way too dull - they're much crisper on original dials. Add to that the lume is new in the hands and at the ends of the indices. Also, the font on AUTOMATIC CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED looks off. Looking at the movement tells me there was moisture in the watch, which would absolutely ruin the dial too which jives with my assessment. Mondodec and gatorcpa are better with these so wait for them, but this one wasn't too hard to spot.

That watch is beautiful, so crisp and clean !.
I see what you mean about looking like a Jaeger Le-Coultre RDM.

I think the steel model looks even nicer. To my own tastes, the bracelet design seems work better with steel 👍

Slightly off current thread topic, but does anyone know which Omega models have the highest gold content?

Omega Flightmaster weighs almost half a kilogram from memory, I think anything else would come in second to that, the Planet Ocean chronograph in 18k would be up there too, as is the Seamaster Pro Chronograph on Bond bracelet.

Thanks Ashley, I was thinking of getting either an Omega with as much gold as I can afford in it or (sorry in advance) a Rolex Daytona Cosmograph in Gold - trying to weigh up which would be the best investment, desirability, gold weight, servicing costs etc..
I don't think that anyone can help me with this one but at least knowing which are the better gold contented Omega watches makes research a little easier.

Honestly the gold Daytonas are not holding anywhere near as well as they should, I've seen an 116528 white dial for $15000 US, full set recently on a Z serial number, 98%+ condition. The one Daytona worth considering is the 16528 porcelain dial Zenith movement, they are extremely rare and only going up long term, I think there was only one year of production or less with an R serial.

The gold Flightmaster is certainly rare too, 200 units total from memory.

Mind you, if you're open to subs, the 1680/8 with colour change dial is fairly rare, very beautiful, and has a pretty good outlook:

You click on someone's username on the left, and on the box that appears there is a "start a conversation" button

Stainless Daytonas hold their value better than gold in the last few years, but I wouldn't "invest" in any ss Rolex. Despite what Switzerland and the hard core Rolex crowd believes, ss is not a precious metal. 😉😜

Depends which SS you buy, the guys that paid under $4k in '88 for the porcelain 16520 Zenith's are now sitting on $50k watches, but that is maybe ~100 watches... out of the ~800,000 per year they make. I'm still happy with my 1680, and would go a rail dial 1665 if I had the chance and from a value retention point of view, I'm at least never going to lose any money on any of the pieces I own which makes me feel happy about wearing them, if I bought a new Rolex, took that depreciation hit, I'd be sad every time I looked at it.

Anything that isn't already rare in the SS Rolex world certainly never will be in the future either.

And as for SS not being a precious metal, you're forgetting Rolex use 904L steel now; 300% the price, 0% benefit! 😉

Hi All
I have been quietly adding to my watch collection and although no more Omegas have joined the fray, I have added a Patek Philiipe ref. 1585 and one other that I am very excited about and will be keeping as a secret 😀
I did see a nice little Omega De Ville coming up in a UK auction : http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/a...ws-and-sons/catalogue-id-2823208/lot-12087282
The Patek 1585 didn't happen to be an eBay buy by any chance?
