Honestly, I don't like that much at all, now if it had the Pie-Pan or Stepped Pie-Pan dial with arrowhead markers, and a brick bracelet, then hell yea, sign me up! Domed dial on mesh, just looks a bit second fiddle. Don't be hard on yourself for keeping your money in your pocket this time.

Thanks Ashley - I can close the door on that one and move onto the next one 😀
Just make sure you open anther door quickly, that way you'll get over it faster. 👍

This one doesn't have a domed dial (I think) does this also go into the don't like pot?! Its another 18k Omega on a mesh strap

Personally, this is what I'd go nuts for:

Wow, that is a beautiful watch. I bet it has a price to match it looks!

Sure does. That's a 60's Grand Luxe on a Milanese brick bracelet, which sell for $7K US and up - WAY up. There's an arrowhead 50's mirror dial Connie on eBay now with the 18ct bracelet with an asking price of $8.5K US.

When you compare them to the current going rate on a current model two-tone Datejust or Day-Date its hard to understand how these aren't worth more...

Ashley is this watch along the lines of what you said would be a better bet?

I could probably get one of these for about £4000
I did have a look on Ebay for the one mentioned for $8500 but couldn't work out which one it was

I still like the brick bracelet better than mesh links but that's purely a matter of personal preference. I do think that looks brilliant though, love the dial, extended lugs. One thing I'm not so hot about is the crown, the octagonal Constellation crown looks so much nicer than that crown.

Whether its 4000 quid or not I can't say, the 18k brick bracelet pie-pan I posted above sold at Christies for a bit over $8000 USD but that was in 2008:

So Ashley, is that one on Ebay (in your opinion) a must have for a collection? and is it worth that sort of money?! 👍

Honestly, no. I still like the brick bracelet more that that one, as for the value, not sure of that either. Very close to my taste though 😉

I'm on the prowl this month to get a nice watch to add to the collection, so if you see something and think 'That's the one' please let me know (via PM) so no one else gets wind of it 😉

Ha fair enough, I'm probably going to hold off until October for mine (the birthday "I can buy a watch if I want" excuse) and lean towards a Speedmaster Cal 321 or Seamaster bumper. If you see any cool speedys, let me know too 😉

That Connie for $7.5K has a stained dial which KILLS the value. 40% of the price of those watches is the dial.

^ See this is why I reserve judgement on these things, not in my wheelhouse, but thankfully there are people that know this stuff

What do you guys make of this ?

A mint condition 14k gold gold topped and stainless steel mens vintage Omega Constellation Chronometer watch. The watch with a high grade auto wind chronometer movement and with original finish pie-pan dial, dating from 1958. The watch with a stunning 14k gold top and a stainless steel case with a yellow gold Constellation logo to the reverse.

THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, withwith typical Omega red gold colored plates. The watch with a compensate regulator and two arm bimetallic balance, with overcoiled hairspring. The movement fully signed "Omega", and with 24 jewels. The watch with auto-rotor to centre and the movement adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The watch with its original yellow gold Omega stamped button. The movement is an Omega 505calibre and the number is 16,xxx,xxx (dates the watch to 1958). The watch is a stunning example of high grade Omega engineering.
