I’m no vintage expert but they always want them unpolished. Personally, I fail to see why a factory service that’s well done would harm the watch. If the receipts are kept, it adds provinance to the watch. If you’re like me, you’d rather the watch looked like new. I’m sure others will chime in soon to to tell you to never polish it. 😉👍
I like a nice looking watch rather than leave the patina. .

Well, I'm taking the watch to the OB tomorrow to ship off to Culver City for service. I can't find hint of any scratches, so I'm going to ask that they DO NOT polish the watch.

I just wish they'd give us a "polish IOU" to send it back in later if needed, after we've paid for the whole shebang and we don't get it all done the first time around.

Either you get this one...or you'll be chasing it the rest of your watch collecting life...

This has everything you could possibly want.... Black LM (not Blue)....RED Seamaster (not orange)...that shiny finish, slim (enough) case and perfect proportions....applied hour markers, Sporty, casual, formal (think bond QOS) ... like I've said...if ever forced to give up the rest of the collection...this one could be the one and only...

I've had a number of 2500 Omega.... not ever one problem...

The only PO I ever want to own. Great photo.

EDIT: I did not realize how old this thread is...::stirthepot::

I would not polish unless it reaaaaally needed it.

Yeah, I made sure they know not to polish the watch - they were quite surprised how clean I've kept the case and crown, and so it really didn't need it anyway. I decided to let Art the watchmaker at the Denver OB do the service, because I only planned to send to Culver City if they were going to do the polish. I drove up there to drop it off today, and pick up some links, and order a Snoopy strap and clasp.

When my POLMLE hit 5 years old in around this time 2016 I put it in the safe, as I didn't want to wear down parts in case I let my local independent watchmaker service it like he did with my 2201.51, without a parts account. But being an LE and important to me as well, I decided to do it at an official Omega certified watchmaker.

It was running +6.3 sec/day yesterday before I took it in, after only being run 3-4x in 2 years (I forgot to pull the crown and so it wound itself from moving it around).

PS: My local guy did a fantastic job on my 2201.51 and it runs between 1/2-2 sec/day fast, and never over 2 sec, but he can't or won't do anything newer than the 2500C, and if it needs parts he needs to put it back together and send it to Omega.

Does anyone remember what was PO LM LE retail price when it came out in 2008?

I could be wrong because my memory is rubbish these days, but I don't believe it was released till 2010. The standard 2500 C was around the £2000 GBP around that time, and I believe the LM were about 3100 or around that figure. I think the last time I saw one in a boutique was about 2012, and it was about £4100.

I believe it was around $5k? I seem to remember reading something about a $1000 premium (give or take) over the standard 2500 variants.

Can count on one hand the number of Seamaster references that have appreciated in value over the years, and this is definitely one of 'em.

Got mine in NOS condition for $6k a year ago – missing the black box, but had everything else. No plans to sell, so I feel like I got off pretty light on this one.

This is a thread that died about a year ago but I thought I'd try to revive it. This thread was a big help to me when researching the LM this past weekend. It should be in my hands by Wednesday.

My first nice watch and really first watch as an adult was a 2201.50 with the 2500D movement I bought in 2012. It was really a wedding gift from my wife but I had to pay for part of it as I went above the budget she had given me. I didn't know anything about watches at the time but thought it'd be cool to have the watch Bond wore. I had that watch until our 5th anniversary when she 'allowed' me to upgrade to a Sub. I love my Sub but I've missed the PO2500 since. I've been looking at picking one back up but figured why not get the LM LE version that I couldn't afford at the time. I found a complete set that looks to only be missing the hangtag.

Good call. The LMLEs can be highly persuasive, I started off after a 2500D clean set that then turned into a year long rabid hunt for the right LMLE.
Worth it 'dough'.

My story is quite similar to yours! I got my Ultimate PO Chrono (from the same series as 2500) as a wedding gift (I had to fill in the extra cash) and I was always after the LE PO... I managed to get one 3 years ago, it's an early 2digit number that was sold originally in Japan, I dare to say that it's my fav watch even though I own a lot of Rolex, other Omega etc... congratulations and let us see it please!

Here's mine on rubber strap, best PO ever made!!

It really is beautiful - even more so at only 1948 made

I have been researching the 2201.50's 42mm versions so this thread has been valuable!

There's actually at most 1947 now, as one reviewer on YouTube admitted to dropping his LMLE into an ocean. 👍
