路Awesome watch! I would love to find one in good condition.
My story is quite similar to yours! I got my Ultimate PO Chrono (from the same series as 2500) as a wedding gift (I had to fill in the extra cash) and I was always after the LE PO... I managed to get one 3 years ago, it's an early 2digit number that was sold originally in Japan, I dare to say that it's my fav watch even though I own a lot of Rolex, other Omega etc... congratulations and let us see it please!
Here's mine on rubber strap, best PO ever made!!
Do you still have the PO Chrono? My regret is that I sold the 2201.50 to afford the Sub.My wife said she was ok with it but after I sold out it turned out she really wasn't. It took her a bit to come around but she now agrees that the Sub is nicer than my old PO. Not sure how she will react upon seeing this souped up PO2500.
Regarding the strap in that pic. I've owned that one before. The one thing I didn't like was that Omega used cardboard in the middle of it so it's not water proof like an actual rubber strap. It's fine for sweating in but not to go swimming in. I liked that strap so I am going to see if the Omega boutique can still order them for me.
That Chrono PO is 45.5mm big watch, I never wear such big watches anymore, now I have a ceramic Daytona, a Kermit, a Sub blue 116613, the LE PO, a GS Snowflake and an Omega Seamaster Trilogy 1957, all watches 39-42mm and thin/short cases for divers etc. I don鈥檛 know how I got to choose that Chrono back then, your Sub is much better than the big PO and a great watch all around
The trilogy 1957 Seamaster was the other watch I was trying to decide between. The trilogy seemed a bit flat and boring to me (the dial that is) as opposed to the LM which has a gloss dial and applied numerals.
My 5 digit Sub is the perfect size for me. It's the reason I 'upgraded' from the 2201.50 to the Sub. 40mm vs 42mm and a few mm slimmer as well. The LM will be my biggest watch.
That Chrono PO is 45.5mm big watch...
Here's the PO Chrono on an eight inch wrist:
In its natural environment:
Yes it is a big watch.
How thick is that? Looks like the watch is close to 20mm thick.
Maybe the best modern diver, ever鈥mega has had in their hands the definitive SUB killer, and let it go!
Best PO for sure.
It wouldn't have Killed the sub, but the fact that they made their new 8500 mvmt 5.5mm thick, when the previous Gen 2500 Coaxial based on the 2892 (3.6mm) meant that regardless of ANYTHING ELSE, the movement alone was going to thicken the watch by 1.9mm.
42mm 8500 Ceramic PO --- 15.7mm Thick.
42mm 2500 LMPO --- 14.2mm Thick.
1.5mm . . . you're telling me they couldn't have shaved a little thickness off the 8500? A little off the Midcase? A little off the Sapphire Crystal?
Why does the watch HAVE to be 600m instead of 300m? .... Oh well, that's why I spent the $ on the LMPO.
