What’s happening on March 26th then?

Edit - Typically by this point in the ISS missions images and video of the crew suiting up and strapping on watches have appeared online. As of today, no additional images or video has been released. Have images or video been embargoed until the official release on the 26th?

Don’t you think the one is wearing the white strapped watch (whatever it is) in the clip of them entering the station?

My stills aren’t the best, but in the video the strap is quite clearly white, oversized (lots of ‘tail’ sticking out when not over a suit?), and the case body itself light/yellowish in color?

It will be interesting to see what movement they use. 4 jewels for a chronograph isn't a lot. The sort of classic ETA quartz chronograph that I think of is something like a 251.262 or something like that - that's a 27 jewel movement, and worth servicing down the road. 5 separate motors with separate trains, all jeweled - it's a great movement and one I trained on way back when:

I may be a G10 (which has 4 jewels) so likely - the G15 series has 6 jewels. In any case, these are both sonic welded together, so cannot be maintained. But I guess this is in keeping with the disposable nature of a Swatch. Hopefully you will at least be able to open the case to do a movement swap down the road if needed.

The suggestion of a possible 3861 movement was almost in the same league as the smartwatch thread😗, still miles away though.😁

Well....just look at the sub-dial positions and that should tell you enough to know it's not a 3861...sub-dials are not on the centerline...

Definitely not a 3861 - the minute counter sub-dial is where the hour counter would be on a 321/861/1861/3861...

Yep mostly wishful thinking on my part. If you see my later posts, it looks like it'll be a 4-jewel quartz movement.

Yes I read the post referring to that earlier in this thread, I was trying to make fun of my own thread where I had wrongly called a Omega smartwatch introduction could be in the cards.

@abrod520 see above.

Yeah, this is the front of the watch back pictured above (with the 4 jewel ETA quartz chrono), which dial layout matches the layout of the “MoonSwatch”

I looked at similar images closely as well. I think those are X-33's and are clearly not the watches they were wearing during the walkout. How easy is it to pull out a Velcro strap and feed it onto another watch? Not inconceivable that the watches were changed before entering the ISS. For all the effort going into this marketing campaign between Omega and Swatch, changing out a Velcro strap or putting on another watch is not outside the realm of possibility.

Again, I'll note at this point in a mission more images and video from suiting up on launch day seem to be absent as of today. Call me a conspiracy theorist but have you noticed all the images from this mission so far are absent, from a distance, or grainy.

No, different case shape me thinks. In other pictures that looks like the X-33.

More like a Nasa G shock, but without the red logo.

If you’re right, it would be a pretty amazing (if daring)feat.

Though, I’d be surprised to learn that Omega/Swatch would have the say-so to black out international media from normal coverage of an ISS launch purely to promote their collaboration on some $200 watches?

Could it be more likely that the unusual lack of coverage results from the current situation in Russia?

In any event, I think a set of Russian-worn “MoonSwatch” would be a PR mine-field for a omega/Swatch, even if a certain set of Space-geeks view ISS goings-on as being above it all. After the Swatch-groups very recent and public bobbles in suspending exports and later sales to Russia, I don’t know that the general public would respond favorably?

Fair enough, I guess we will see what the 26th brings. My thought is that what both companies have invested in this opportunity may outweigh the consequences. Again, the ISS has always seemed to be above the political fray and could help mitigate any type of severe blowback.

A reveal on the ISS may be a step too far but I'm think some tie in is possible. At this point, the logistics of getting everything is place may have been too much to reverse for a later date.

I still think the watches we see during the walkout are possibly these new collaborative watches making their first appearance. Who knows, my speculation is as valid as anyone else's in this thread.

And wouldn't those spiffy looking yellow flight suits match nicely with the yellow cased watch?😀

Absolutely! And while I think chances are slim I WANT it to be true and hope you will be proved correct.

1 watch for every planet + moon + sun?

Yes, even for 1 object, that officially is NOT a planet (Pluto)

Well, according to NASA
Pluto-Charon is our solar system's only known double planetary system.

Valid (and interesting!) indeed!

Relatedly, I’ve today found that Russian state websites are generally inaccessible - including Roscosmos’s site. So, the only photos of space prep I’ve found are a few obtained by the Associated Press.

Found a couple with resolution better than the others

Certainly not the standard black strap with Speedy.

Appears in a few pictures, however, to be metallic and reflective, rather than matte - as we might expect from the leaked MoonSwatch.

In any event, the yellow/hood whatever it is sure seems “new”

Putting the russian astronauts topic aside (definately a PR suicide imho), how will you feel with your good old SS speedies knowing that there are now cheap plastic (...sorry... bioceramic...) versions of it? Doesn't that feel cheap to you? If it is fun and light like Snoopy then it's great, but if it tries to be all serious with solar system... i dont know... lets wait and see

Wait..It could be that Omega, Swatch, and the Russians are tricking us with their superb Photoshop skills, or it could just be the super bright Baikonur sun, or maybe there will be a shinny yellow case watch in the mystery box, or maybe I just don't know wha the F&*k I'm talking about. Probably the latter!

Yep, more metallic indeed. I guess until March 26th I'll hold out hope I was correct, but if I'm not, I will swallow my pride like a man/he/him and fall on my sword.

Hopefully my post will be so far gone it will soon be forgotten and I will go back to displaying my vast expertise of watchband calendars and we will never speak of this again.

The whole point of a Swatch watch is knowingly cheap and tacky though?

Cheap is definitely a constant with all Swatches, sure.

Not all of their watches look tacky though. Its like half/half either tacky or minimalistic.
