Update:

Even if your geographical region isn’t covered by the current locations, I was told by my local Swatch store that they will be available a week or two after launch.

Was also told that these will eventually be available for everyone. They are not a LE and are being mass produced.

So sit back, enjoy, and buy one (or more) when you can!

This is my godson’s Gen 2 I bought him for $100, he had a Gen 1 plastic case before that for years and loved it, and now has a mechanical TAG Aquaracer. They were really a terrific success for TAG for what they achieved.

Even though they have cheap quartz movements in them, most of them I’ve found still work 30-40 years later as long as they haven’t been flooded or subject to a leaking battery. My mother’s Swatch watches from the 80s still work too if you put a new battery in them, I haven’t tested their accuracy or anything but they do run and Swatch do know how to make durable movements even if they’re not intended to ever be serviced.

I have one of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 watches that’s a little unusual - it’s been in Formula 1.

It was given to me at the Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide by a marketing guy from McLaren who was moving to a different team the following year, and who had no further use for it.

I wouldn’t trade it for love or money . . .

There’s no “end goal”. The whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Enough to make me want to move on. Just all the stupid hype alone is enough to make me nauseous.

Is it hype? Or just genuine excitement for something fun, cool and affordable?

I haven’t seen anyone claiming that this is an “amazing investment opportunity” or “the best watch for these 10 reasons”.

I have seen a lot of people saying that it’s fun.

Which for a lot of us, is what this hobby was until all the investment douchebags showed up.

If it’s not for you, that’s fine.

But it doesn’t give you the right to crap on the birthday cake, becuase you’re not enjoying the party.

I'm loving that people (some with less than 50 posts) are lecturing us that if we like this release we aren't true Omega enthusiasts and therefore shouldn't be on a forum like this. Just unbelievable asshattery.

If you don’t like it. Jog on.

When they find out about all the Omega watches that aren't Speedmasters, and learn that not every Omega has gone up in value over the years they are going to lose their minds.

Swatch for kids….. must be some large kids out there given the size of these.

Actually would have been half decent release if they’d sized them for kids.

After 33 pages, some are happy and some are sad, but the only question really left now is will there be an Apollo 11 anniversary MoonSwatch this year?

Since when is Swatch for kids?

Flik-Flak is specifically for kids, Swatch is for everyone.

I like what Omega and Swatch have done. I'm not compelled to line up for hours to pick one of these up, but if I get a chance I'll probably buy one or two. I also own three vintage pre-moon Speedies and I expect to pick up a modern Speedy one of these days as well. I don't find any problem treating each of these watches for what it is. Also, I'm sure I'll feel more comfortable wearing one of these on the streets of NY or London when I next visit as opposed to a brand new Moonwatch.

I also have friends here in Hong Kong, folks in their 30s (i.e. much younger than me) who own Omegas, but also PP Nautiluses, AP ROs, Mosers, Langes etc., and who are totally into these new releases. They know their high-end watches and they also appreciate a good streetwear watch when they see it. For them, as for me, liking the real deal does not preclude appreciating a streetwear homage piece. And meanwhile, I think there's plenty of young people who right now only wear Apple watches and who will try these out and start appreciating the aesthetics of a watch that actually is about telling the time instead of pestering you with new messages. For some, that might be the gateway into an appreciation of mechanical watches and perhaps the real Moonwatch. For others, it won't, but their choices don't impinge on my ability to appreciate the watches I own and choose to collect.

It's a bit of fun. I can't for the life of me see how this is going to damage the Omega name. It's a bit of fun, and I am sure most people will see it for what it is. I hope to pick one up when they become more widely available. I don't think I will be sitting there wondering why I spent my hard earned cash on three actual Speedmasters.

Personally, I wear what I want for my own amusement and not for the approval or judgment of others. One day a Rolex, one day an Omega, one day a G-Shock. Who cares?

If author Dan Brown’s character, symbologist Robert Langdon, can wear the ultimate reverse-snobbery watch in fiction, a Mickey Mouse, I can wear an Omega MoonSwatch in shades of blue . . .

Oh and here it is another funny meme. Please, enjoy!

In the meantime, I'm not sure if I like more the "Jupiter" or the "Mercury" one.

Most people are taking comfort in the statements that these will be available online soon...come one, come all. Most likely the Swatch production run for these is already complete and they have moved on to the next project. Hopefully they have calculated correctly and there will be enough to go around, but if Swatch has an Omega Snoopy-type frenzied response look for a pretty short availability window. When these go online don't tarry, get your order in.

Some of them probably aren’t even Australian!

Increasingly convinced a few are from the Rolex Psy-ops department

Not even Tag H would pull a stunt like this, nevermind JLC, Cartier or Rolex partaking.

Which, it seems, is sort of the point. (To say nothing of the fact that none of them could do this, since their Parent Co doesn’t also own fun-toy watch company.)

But it does bring to mind a topic not yet pointed out: as much as the modern day luxury segment is frenzied with collaborations, there’s an argument that Swatch invented/elevated the notion of corporate luxury collaborations back in the 1980’s onward to name a few: Keith Haring (‘86), Vivienne Westwood, David LaChapelle (2015?), Damien Hirst (2019), MoMa

Many of the biggest names in modern art of the past 4 decades were also wiling to degrade themselves and ruin their careers by putting their design and names on cheap plastic crap watches!

Already a queue outside Swatch Oxford St London. Brilliant marketing.
Did you take those yourself while you were there? How many people were there waiting?

Does anyone know if the straps are swappable?

Someone is finally asking the real questions. I have been wondering as well if these have traditional springbars or if this is some kind of fixed system. I have not seen anything definitive yet.
