Honestly, I’d consider selling you both if you are interested. 3861 Sapphire and a blue SMP. Strongly considering replacing my Speedmaster with the BB chrono, and my SMP with a Sub. Say what you will about Rolex and Tudor, but at least they respect and protect their brand and image.

Putting “Omega Speedmaster” on a plastic quartz watch....still can’t believe it. It’s hard to have pride or have respect for a brand that doesn’t even respect itself.

I’ll take both. 50% off retail, you know, because they are seriously devalued now, I cannot respect them enough to pay what the market value was before the moonswatch...

Dude is clearly insane. "Still can't believe it". I still can't believe there are adult toddlers.

"This less expensive watch branded as an Omega Speedmaster is going to devalue the brand! Nobody will buy the Moonwatch if they can get a less expensive Speedmaster that vaguely looks the same."

The reality is that it is very easy to distinguish between the Moonwatch and MoonSwatch. Everyone will understand how they are different, and nobody will pretend to pass one off as the other.

I want to buy two of the watches (Moon, Neptune), but I live about eight hours from the nearest Swatch Boutique.

It’s a great marketing coup, but as an Omega owner many times over, I feel penalized for not living closer to a Swatch store.

The sorry thing is, they will be on the auction site within hours of release at multiples of the $260 retail price . . .

Agreed. People forget the the Speedmaster name has been used on all kinds of watches. Even one that wasn’t even a chronograph...

If you haven't seen it yet, Swatch has already stated these will be available for sale online soon after the launch. The initial launch day is in person only.

Wao, 28 pages and most is to justify an opinion multiple times. We can do better. The watches are unique, I will be inline to see if I can get 2. Understand they are cheap and plastic and just a homage of the real piece in very poor quality craftsmanship. A réplica Watch will be better, but what the hell it’s just 260 and if I don’t like it I am sure I can sell for the same amount. For now one for my son and another for me. Definitely takes away from owning a piece of history, understand comments of brand dilution with something of less quality associated with Omega. Could care less as I am an Omega fan due to the Speedmaster, hopefully no collaborations with a cereal box in the future, but at this point they are a public traded company and they serve shareholders. Rolex does not associate with other brands in such a manner but they are an assembly line privately owned. Enjoy with you like. Enjoy peoples view on things for better or worst. Have a beer or a glass of wine and enjoy life they way you personally can afford and let others enjoy what brings them pleasure.

With all due respect, a replica is never better than anything. They are illegal and insulting to every watch honestly made anywhere.

I have two Speedy Moon watches (along with about forty or so other Omegas) and I still would buy two of the MoonSwatches if I were living close enough to get in the queue . . .

If that’s the case then I’m pleased and relieved.

The MoonSwatch would be ideal for traveling as it shows your enthusiasm for the brand, for Casio money . . .

Value and price are not the same thing.
Value is very subjective.
The fact that this discussion is even taking place mean to some in someways this move will in some peoples eyes hurt Omega’s status!
Will it stick, who knows?
One minute Rolex can’t give away OPs next people pay many times retail for a certain color OP then it spreads.

Personally as a collector of Speedmasters (with zero intent on ever selling any watch or any personal assets for that matter) does this cheap plastic Moonswatch make me think the Omega Speedmaster loses some of its luxury status for me personally…….Absolutely!

Will this opinion stick? No idea.

Do I assume I represent the market sentiment in general? Not at all.

Again I like the look of these things a lot, but equally I’m no fan of swatch cheap plastic quartz junk.

Are you selling yours? Are you now not buying Omegas that you were planning to buy?
Not selling mine, because I am satisfied with the watch quality and love the design of the watch. However, what Omega did to their brand by bringing out a plastic swatch in my opinion is an abomination. It is as if they made and authorised a fake version of a Speedmaster and legitimised it. It will damage the brand but not destroy it, Omega will come back from this. Let’s not forget all the good improvements Omega have done over the last 20 years.

I think your opinion on this is in the minority...

Fair enough, that is your opinion. Looking back at the posts, it seems evenly split. What every the Swatch group are up to one thing is for sure, everyone is talking about this. That can be good or bad, I hope it has a good effect.

Most ceramic cases, especially when matte finished, look very plastic. Swatch is very clever here calling this material bioceramic and touting how it is environmentally friendly, which is a must for most younger consumers. I guess Swatch has been using this material for awhile.

It will be interesting to see how the sales go on the 26th, they will most likely be woefully short of demand which just creates more confusion and disappointment.

I see you, and raise you...

I admit the diamond studded rubber strap was comfortable...
Again, say what you will, but it sure as hell isn’t plastic, and sure as shit isn’t 250 bucks...
