·The 3861 Speedmaster has been exposed, MoonSwatch sales will soar and the 3861 Speedy sales are going to sharply decline. Am I getting that logic correctly? Is this how Omega is going to suffer dearly?

·I think the main issue here is not necessarily the collaboration. It’s the branding. This watch shouldn’t have the standard Omega logo front and center as if it were made by Omega. This watch is clearly a Swatch. The movement, the materials, the distribution. It looks and will feel like a cheapo watch in person. It should say SWATCH at the top, and have the Omega symbol, or the Omega text, not both, below the x. That would make sense, and show some respect to the Omega brand.

·This does not hurt Omega at all lol. But this apparently hurts some of you. That's a shame. So, the solution is to sell your Omega(s). That way you won't have to feel cheap anymore, and then you can maybe afford a Rolex. Because, no one actually gives a f*** which watch you wear so that you feel good about yourselves. Definitely.

Nothing is permanent. They said they'll essentially sell it to everyone who wants one. They can keep this going for years. I don't know Omega's production numbers, but I think there's a strong chance that by the end of this year, wearing a speedy will have a higher chance of meaning a moonswatch rather than the pro.
And I think that's a damn shame.

·For many, "closing the gap" with Rolex means Omega models becoming grey market darlings and eventually safe queens. This is not a future we should be rooting for.

·It is nothing to do with being a snob, it is about quality and what it makes you feel. If the entry point is accessible to all at any price point, the brand image and what it makes you feel changes.
If I could have a brand new Omega that currently retails at £10k for £1k I'd feel pretty damn happy. I didn't by my Omega's because they cost thousands, I bought them because I liked them for what they were and would've been perfectly happy to pay far less for them. That's my motivation anyway, yours seems to be different.
I'd like an A. Lange and Sohne but can't justify the financial cost. I don't want one because they're expensive or somewhat exclusive. I'd like one because they're beautifully crafted and to behold.

Completely disagree. Most people are intelligent and can wrap their heads around this thing. This is not the travesty that some of you are making it out be. Not at all. It's kind of brilliant, and the reactions to it are proving that.

So you're saying the alternative to rolex is a 4000$ watch with nice materials and movement, which only takes design queues from the main brand, while Omega's alternative for the speedmaster is a plastic toy with the name put everywhere and with a movement worse than a replica's. How is that supposed to make me confident in Omega's future?

Omega is not actually obligated to fulfill anyone's sense of self worth and make them feel good about themselves. Sell your Omegas, and then you can feel good again. 👍
I feel even better about my Omegas, today. So, we can cancel each other out, and then the world can keep turning.
