All this Speedmaster talk made me wear this one today, still feels the same, looks the same and I still appreciate it the same.
As for the new MoonSwatch, HECK YEAH I’ll grab a couple if and when available. I guess I’m not a serious watch guy if I’m not offended or if I don’t think this hurt Omega’s image or brand.
They’re watches people, inanimate objects get over yourselves…

Checking ebay listings to get a pulse on watch buzz is like checking random twitter comments to crowd source public opinion. Collabs always equal scammer's delight.

While historically people loved to say this let’s be real watches right now are the best investments and omega just took themselves out of the game If you didn’t “make”a ton of money on watches in the past few years you were buying the wrong watches

Winner of the most tone-deaf post of the week. 👍

This release is very forward-thinking and strategically brilliant for Omega: it's a fun and relaxed take on their high-end branding, it appeals to all ages, it promotes space exploration (without a doubt, the most important endeavor for our species), it promotes state-of-the-art renewable resources, it's accessible to just about everyone, and their good name is all freaking over it. They are NOT Rolex, and they're obviously not afraid to show that. Omega is a brand in which I've invested myself, partly because they are technologically progressive, and they have just done me proud. I'm extremely fond of Omega right now.

I think this is a total win, and, again, I will have the Saturn. 👍

I agree, but I just found this amusing and ridiculous at the same time.

I admit to wanting the Pluto because it was cool of Omega / Swatch to give the middle finger to the decision to un-planet Pluto. I understand the science behind it, but... just keep it as a planet because it has been for so long; maybe add an asterisk and mention the other zillion planetoids in orbit. The color scheme is nice as well. I might get a couple of Venus's for my granddaughters.

Many people are listing these watches before they scalp them, however this naive bipolar and honest lister/scalper transparently described the process, yet the listing is already at $900, are people making fun?

Yea, 2/3rds if these “bidders” will no-pay, and the other 1/3 either (1) wipe their bums with $100 bills and could care less about spending $1,000, or (2) write it off as a “business” expense in connection with their “jobs” as “influencers”

but someone in the no-pay camp is most likely to be a winning bidder

Wasn’t it made clear that these will be available online at some point? I’m ok with free market blah blah and all that stuff but when I see something decent, let’s say a seiko limited release and seiko is nice enough to send me a link letting me know but the watch is gone when I open the link and it seems the 750 made are all on eBay or other sites at 5x the price it really does get disappointing. I just like the pretty dial and want to wear the damn thing. I don’t want a watch in a safe (no offense meant to those who do such things) but it really irks me. I get watches with significant historical meaning or a unique provenance but it just seems out of hand sometimes

There is one major glaring issue with this.

Is this considered an Omega watch? If so, then why the hell is it 250 dollars with a horrendous cheap ticking quartz movement and a plastic case!?

If this is a supposed to just be a Swatch, then why the hell does it say Omega on the dial front and center? This is bad bad bad for the Omega brand.

I'm curious about the battery cover. How do you remove it without the slot that's normally on all the other Swatches?

its there - see 12 o’clock on the Earth [EDIT: Inrealize now you’re speaking instead of the “coin” clot for turning the cover - yeah, dunno!]

separately, the moon version looks good (and familiar!)

This is bad bad bad for the Omega brand.

Do you think this is going to stop anyone from buying other Omegas?

This had to be forced down the throat of Omega by the Swatch group. No other explanation.

Me too. As well as Swatches. I think it's win-win.
Absolutely. Those who think otherwise doesn't know anything about marketing
