what $250 watch would Rolex allow their name on?

None and that's not a bad thing. A nice authorised tribute from Swatch/Omega or a Rolex clone for same price?

I think it’s absolutely great that it’s a high profile but extremely affordable collaboration that’s a finger in the eye to those Hodinkee x whatever.

All the limited edition Speedmasters Pros are too much for me but this is brilliant.

I'm a Speedmaster fan and really like these, I'm with the "they're a bit of affordable fun" brigade, and I'd be tempted by several of the colours(only one of, but I mean I like at least half of them).

I'm a bit gutted they're only available from Swatch stores though as the aren't any remotely close to me so rules me out of buying one sadly. Had they been online I'd have definitely had one on my birthday list.

I'm curious, why do you need a waterproof watch on a planet that has no water?

Splashdown maybe?

I'm curious how "available" they will be down the road. There's a few (5) I'd like to get my hands on but I simply won't drive 12 hours round trip for a plastic quartz watch. I especially like how Swatch themselves says they will be "accessible" to the public. If by accessible you mean I need to go wayyyyyy outa the way to get o e then that's not really accessible haha. And if a week from now they are sold out and being scalped for double, then saying they are accessible would just be a straight up lie. Can't wait to see how this pans out.

My guess would be they’re doing the ‘instore only’ thing for a short while, at least during Watches & Wonders, to drum up hype/free publicity. Then they’ll start selling them online.

*Winky emoji in case you think I'm invested. I am not.

As my mother used to say... "I believe you, but thousands wouldn't"...

Would you believe I walked past the Swatch store at the top of Grafton St last night and it was boarded up

This is so annoying. And I'm passing through Heathrow t5 on sat morning (on was back to Dublin), pretty sure they only have WoS and the usual empty Rolex display box

I own a lot of omegas and am seriously questioning the long term values now

Start liquidating them - I'm sure you will find willing buyers!

Ooohh these are good fun, I'm getting saturn and mercury If a chance comes along. yes its shocking that Omega with all their price hikes and turn to the dark side over last couple of years would so this. I'm thinking Swatch is desperate.

Oh no. Maybe watches aren’t good investments. 😲

While historically people loved to say this let’s be real watches right now are the best investments and omega just took themselves out of the game If you didn’t “make”a ton of money on watches in the past few years you were buying the wrong watches

Hmm interesting reading this thread. I guess I don’t have enough gigabytes or brain cloud storage to overthink this watch release. Some things I like somethings I don’t. These I like for a few reasons but everyone already mentioned a bunch so mine are not much different or anymore relevant.
At a time when every time you get gas or go to the grocery story everything is up another .10-20 cents it’s kinda cool a brand with history and and upscale clientele make something (keeping in mind the swatch collaborating) That is accessible but obviously people get passionate about collecting etc. so it stands to reason the analysis would be intense.
Now in my case I just have a mundane speedy auto date and tbh I’m fine with it but of course I don’t get to partake in the whole “moon watch” history thing. Does this swatch collaboration have more of a moon connection than my mundane speedy? If so I’m going to agree with everyone who dislikes this watch even though I like it and I see a sweet one on eBay for 25k I might jump on

The 'watch snobs' are the ones hating on this. It's a home run for Omega. Cant wait to pick up a pair!

I'm finding the polarization on this release to be pretty entertaining honestly...
