I am getting married in a couple months and would like to buy my fiancé a watch as a wedding gift. He isn’t a collector but does appreciate a nice watch. He is a pilot and tends to be on the conservative side style wise. I have it narrowed down to 3 models- the green aqua terre- we are getting married in Ireland. The FOIS- I think he would appreciate the history behind it or the black laquer aqua terre which wasn’t available at the Jewellery store when I went to look in person but is very sharp looking.
What one would you love to receive as a gift? I don’t want to ask him as I want it to be a surprise.

If he's a pilot, he may appreciate the chronograph function of the FOIS. The FOIS will be sportier and the Aqua Terras are a bit dressier, if that matters.

Does he currently own any watches? The three watches you suggest are all objectively excellent. The Speedmaster FOIS is the most interesting and with the most heritage. The AT's are dressier but still have a sporty side. I would shy away from the green dial AT unless you know he likes the color green. Black is far more universal to pair with clothing and the gloss black enamel dial is awesome. Have you considered the blue Aqua Terra? That's the most popular color.

This depends on who he is/what he'd wear/etc. If it was me, and as someone with 3 Speedmasters, I'd go with the FOIS 😀 The AT is very much a 'dressier' watch, so if he's someone who doesn't dress up often, he might not enjoy it as much.

The Speedmaster is a bit of a 'wear everywhere' kind of watch, though it has a 'feel' of fragility that might not be all that appreciated.

Definitely a great gift and lucky guy. Might be worth taking a trip shopping and find an excuse to "drop by the boutique" to check out a few watches for yourself. While there, ask the salesman to pull out a few pieces for your fiancé. See which one he likes the most and go from there.

FWIW, the FOIS is a great piece, so is the Aqua Terra. The Aqua Terra very versatile, dressy on bracelet, more casual/sporty on a rubber or sail cloth strap, works in any situation. Would probably lean towards the black or blue dial as it goes with everything. The green dial is different but I get the significance with Ireland.

My order of preference
1. FOIS
2. black lacquer AT
3. the new green/turquoise AT

I'm not really a fan of the regular green AT mainly because of the bracelet. I prefer the bracelet of the black lacquer or turquoise AT more.

Any reason you are considering a FOiS of a standard Speedmaster Pro? The FOiS is a lot flashier — if your fiancé prefers more conservative style watches, you can’t get more conservative than a standard Speedy Pro.

Sounds like AT for sure, unless he has a specific interest in Speedies. Also, keep in mind there's different AT sizes and the 41mm can wear a bit too big on smaller wrist sizes. 38mm is often better proportioned and a thinner watch too.

I would normally say a black dial is the way to go, but the reason behind the green dial is very sweet.

The current smaller AT is 38mm. The previous generation was 38.5mm. I know, I'm nitpicking. 😉

Now that I think about it more, I think the green dial AT is the way to go. In the long term it will be the most meaningful of the three and it's a beautiful watch. The good thing is that there is no wrong choice here. All 3 are winners.

Another thing to perhaps consider is would he prefer a self winding watch, Aqua Terra, or a manual winding watch, Sea Master.
I would vote for the green Aqua Terra.

He currently wears a tissot chronograph that I bought him 10years ago. It wasn’t an expensive watch but he loves it. I have been agonizing over this for months lol. Thank you for your input I really appreciate it

I’m literally driving myself crazy over this. Thank you for your input! I love the green but it might be too much for him. He thinks navy blue is colorful lol

I’m a sentimental gal so I’m hoping that he will love it. They are all stunning watches so I can’t see him not liking whatever one I choose but I really appreciate the advice.

I don’t know why you shortlisted the FOIS over the Speedmaster Pro, but I’d honestly have another look at that.
The Moonwatch is an absolute classic, looks good on bracelet or strap (anniversary gifts for years…), and goes with any outfit.
Out of your shortlist, I’d say FOIS, black Aqua Terra, then green Aqua Terra, with the green a very distant third. The idea behind it in the connection with Ireland is lovely, but I just don’t think it’s as versatile as an everyday watch.

I am partial to the Speedmaster Pro. How about a Speedmaster Pro with a nice leather green strap for it?

If he really likes blue I would consider an Aqua Terra in blue. It is the most popular Aqua Terra and for good reason. This will look good in tux, a suit, chinos, jeans, or sweatpants. It's the perfect all around watch. It's one of George Clooney's favorite watches. And as an Omega ambassador he can wear just about anything they make.
