That was a great price.

Mine was $2,300 AUD in 2012, now their price is just crazy. At the end of last year I was planning to build my own based on a 565 but now that the parts have gone up so much in price in the last few months, I'm looking at building something else instead

I don't want to steer you in any particular direction.........................

But check this out when they re-open

Any for sale within Australia at a reasonable price??

There's a date version with mesh on the watchuseek sales forums from someone in Melbourne (username - Amanda) for about $2400 last time I saw it. Pretty decent price considering how much they're going for now.

I picked mine up for $1,900 Aussie. As legendary a watch as it is, I'm not sure if I could justify more than $6k Aussie.

A quick search of ofrei.com shows;

Case; $1498 USD

Dial with date; $216 USD

Main Hands; $34 USD

Seconds hand; $16.80 USD

Add a mesh bracelet for $369 brand new or get a (used one price ??) or a generic one on ebay for about 35 bucks + shipping.
Buy a movement off ebay for a couple hundred bucks, assemble yourself and you have one for; 1764.80 plus movement and shipping, about 2,100 USD (head only). Caution.. requires patience to get a movement and a tiny bit of skill to assemble. (watchmakers are always available.)

Cheers

PS you can always send me a 10% finders fee. Just kidding and I have no affiliation to ofrei.com

Nodate +1.

You get the vintage look and the modern lume and sturdiness. Excellent beater.
Helluva watch.

Wearing mine today as a result of this thread. 😎 Bit of a mix of old and new.

And to think I actually hesitated at a BIN of US$1,400 (AU$1,663 at the time) on this one in October 2014 as the Aussie dollar was starting to slip compared to my earlier fortunate purchases.

Was simply listed as "OMEGA Gent's Wristwatch Stainless Steel SEAMASTER PROFESSIONAL".
Keep those eBay searches broad and not too specific 👍

This is rather the real vintage SM300 than a Watchco one, with a new dial and hand set. The lug's a bit polished though. Can you post a picture of the outside caseback?

If I did get an Extract of Archives to say that the case and the movement were matched would that be valuable?
Do vintage dials and hands ever come up for sale in usable condition? Must say I'm more focused on the Speedmasters usually.

Sellers listing did state "Professionally Cleaned & polished" 🙁 which worried me at the time. Nothing much I can do now. Doesn't look quite as bad on the wrist as that first pic but it's definitely shiny 😬

An EoA certainly adds to the value, but I think a vintage dial and hand set would add more and they do come up once in a while.

You can have the case redone to the original finish or, if you're brave and skilled enough, do it yourself.

Beautiful, although if I might say a little bit too minty for my personal taste.
Congrats anyhow, look forward to get one

My dad just scored one of these directly from them off eBay for a best offer of 3k (listed with a bin of 3700 at the time).

I had it in my hand today and it was awesome. $ well spent in my opinion. Great retro styling in a modern build and what I consider to be a 100% authentic real deal Seamaster.
