Not better i do prefer the clean ND version, but I dont dislike the date. There's a lot worse date watches out there !.

Just having some fun with you. And I agree that there are some hideous date windows around. I don't get the curved slot that shows multiple numbers, and has an arrow or some kind of indicator to show which is today.

The worst to me are the ones on piggyback chronograph or thick complicated but badly designed movements, where the date wheel sits 3mm+ below the dial and reading it is like staring down a mineshaft. AP can be blamed for this among others.

Not only does the date sit low, the pushers are on a different plane from the crown and they're expensive to service. Those DD modules on ETA movements are reliable but have their drawbacks

Is this the kind of thing you're talking about ?. The date looks like its at the bottom of a well !. Seems as though you have to look at the date square on to read it.

Complaining about the date on that watch is sort of like complaining about arthritis when your frank and beans have been hacked off with a rusty saw.

There are DEFINITELY more pressing problems 0_0

Yea that's it, the magnifier is necessary to even see it, but even with that, the depth of the date window causes shadowing of it, so it's very dark.

Is it just me or is the dial offset, it looks like it is too far left. I love the look of the watch but the dial would drive me nuts.

Are these still available?

Im looking for an everyday watch, something decent, with a vintage look but not something i should be afraid of hurting.
Ive been in love with the sm 300 for a long time now but trying to find one in Australia.....well, that coupled with the fact that id be too precious with it kinda puts them out of contention, i stumbled upon this thread and thought this could be the perfect solution.
Im going to look at a SMPO 2200.51.00 (http://omegaforums.net/threads/2200-51-00-seamaster-planet-ocean.21221/) but as mentioned i think they may wear too big for my slender wrists and as Sergio Maclean pointed out its not the sort of watch you want as your daily

Any info appreciated.

Cheers

Watchco have one with a NOS movement at the moment, only $4,440 USD, converted to $AUD and with GST they are becoming an eye watering proposition.

I'm glad I got my non-date when I did (at $1,900 AUD)

That was a great price.

Mine was $2,300 AUD in 2012, now their price is just crazy. At the end of last year I was planning to build my own based on a 565 but now that the parts have gone up so much in price in the last few months, I'm looking at building something else instead

Can't blame you, I just did the sums for the Date they have on the bay.

Add 10% GST and that's AUD$6,270.70

😲
