This from the Omega Museum in Bienne. Not sure what's going on with the woman's Nosferatu hand.

This original ad is from the late thirties. Had it framed for the wall I like the image so much. It is a mysterious figure, half day and half night, a guardian of timekeeping. Perhaps one of our French members can better translate the phrase "eloge du temps."

I understand it as "the praising of time" and that seems quite nice.

Very nice ad!

"The praise of time" sounds correct to me.

Looks very much to me as though watch advertising has gone downhill in recent years. Some of the examples you have all been posting have an idea in them, and they're so much more exciting and evocative than today's. These are from the '90s.

Those who have the Sala book will recognize this - an illustration by writer/playwright/artist/film maker Jean Cocteau (circa 1947?). It says something to the effect that "Time himself checks the time with a Universal watch":

Not an ad, per se, but might as well be. Found while trawling google images for vintage Rolex print ads. Bryan Ferry, wearing what I'm assuming is a 1016, right?

1979 advertissement showing an Omega Quartz wristwatch... but any idea what was the link with astronaut Scott Carpenter (who wore a Breitling NaviTimer-Cosmonaut on Aurora 7 in May 1962 ) ?
