I'm settling with JPJSavage is pulling our leg at the risk of sullying Pat's good history. Or JPJSavage has been scammed. Or it's a genuine mistake from both sides yet to be rectified.

JPJSavage, did Pat give a reason for the crazy low price?

I am afraid I can see only 2 realistic options here, either a stolen watch turns up or a hacked WUS account means that nothing at all does. I really hope I am wrong since it is an amazing deal but as noted elsewhere, why would someone give the thick end of £10K to a perfect stranger.

Based on what pops-up when I got to log into my WUS account: "This connection is not secure. Logins here could be compromised", I believe it's more likely that WUS has been hacked into again.

All the WUS accounts were compromised relatively recently, it wouldn't big shock if a seldom used account from that breach was used to scam people.

Hope it's not a scam mate. If not, congrats!

The latter part prevailed!

Huge congrats.

Strange case back markings ??
Its the correct caseback but these were acid etched - best guess is someone had it polished and engraved with initials and some pertinent date. There was one on ebay a few weeks ago that I'd convinced myself was NOS when purchased in 1972 so these things do come up.

I bought this for the stated price. As you say, there were numerous interested parties but I paid up there and then and, all being well, the watch should arrive on Monday. I'll be sending it to Simon Freese (ex STS) for an inspection and service.

As with all these things, there was only time to do a little bit of checking but the buyer has a good profile on watchuseek, he emailed me promptly and we had a chat on the phone. Seemed like a genuine guy who had several nice Omega watches.
Wow you were fast. i saw this on watchrecon 1 minute after listed, contacted seller if he could post to another country, he said yes! I then emailed if there was any more info about the watch. I got no follow up message and then it was gone! well done you. this was all in the space of 30 min?

Sorry. I came in from walking the dogs and saw the alert and got in touch. As you say, I think he was deluged by potential buyers but I was lucky on this occasion.

Did he give any explanation why he let it go so cheap? He obviously knew quite a bit about it, and you mentioned he had some nice other watches. Was he in a generous mood?

Its going off to Simon Freese, ex Swiss Time Services, for a clean and a full service. After that, it will worn in rotation with my other watches. I'm lucky to have a beautiful 1969 speedy (birth year, pre moon with the 861 movement) so I will have to think about whether I want two in the collection and, if not, which one to sell.
