"Vintage" Omega with the Omega symbol but no name - is it real?

Like many people, I imagine, we have inherited what looks like an old omega watch.
It's gold plated with a gold plated wrist band. In working order.

I did some research on Google images and all the photos of vintage Omega watches have the name on the face.
So is this real or a fake?
I quite happen to like its simple, unusual face and it fits my wrist.. But do I need to add it to my home insurance as a special item?

I would be very grateful for any advice as to whether it's real or not, the age if it is and the value.

Many thanks

It looks as if its dial was painted with exterior latex house paint.

Omega wouldn't turn out anything looking like that.

Welcome to the Forum. Have a nosy around at good examples of vintage Omegas to see if you find a model you would enjoy acquiring. The pursuit is half the fun.

Are there any visible minute or seconds markings on the dial?

Not that I can see - even under a magnifying glass.

It hadn't occurred to me that someone might have pained the dial (as per Noelekal posting above).
OMG - What a way to ruin a good watch..... if it IS / was a good watch.

The quality of the photo is terrible, almost as if it was taken with it under a glass table...

Welcome!
This is, at best, a very bad 'redial', meaning that the dial is actually ruined.
That does not mean to say that the rest of the watch is completely without its virtue, although one might think that, if someone takes care of the dial this way, you might be in for a treat on the inside...🤨
Do you have pics of the inside of the watch?

Cheers

think it was old Latex, that tends to thicken while not used for a long time... ::stirthepot::

I'll try taking another photo - quality is dependent upon my point and press camera and the light. I'll take one outside.

I'm not a watch expert - is it tricky to open the back?

It is when you are not experienced.
But again, to be honest, after the dial being molested the way it is, there is not much more you might do to damage the watch IMHO, but others might think differently.

OK - 4 more pics - don't think I've improved on the one of the face, but it's a dull day here and light not v bright.

Genuine movement, but with case being worn out and dial ruined, there's not a lot of value there. Movement would be good for parts likely.

now I see the face magnified on the screen, I can see what you mean. What a crime. Can the face be replaced? Is it worth it?

@Archer beat me just with 5 sec on this..., although his view is way more to be trusted than mine... 😁

I am so confused why they did that to the face.

They wanted to "upgrade" it...
