So a pretty tropical dial speedmaster is very attractive-the cooked dials appear obvious to me as cooked
Then there are the desiccated dials. They often have a granular or sugary surface and the colour is often weak, faded patchy and I describe them as “dried out”
Many of the man induced dials are relumed, as the process destroys the lume, of it was even any good to start with.
Bear in mind also that most brown dials photos are catfish. Check skin tones if there is a finger, and if buying always ask for three different lights. Daylight, office light and incandescent. You will be amazed.
Even the Phillips Fraud Speedmaster (last one pictured above) when held in hand had my spidey senses tingling long before they were busted.
When you handle a lot of them, you get an intuitive idea as to veracity of the dial. All part of the fun.
