Hi all,

I found this vintage Tissot and like the look of the waffle dial, dagger hour markers and interesting signed crown.
The seller's description gives very little information and there's no inside caseback/movement photograph. I couldn't find anything similar whilst surfing the web so I'd be grateful for your opinions. @Vitezi I know you're very knowledgeable on Tissot from this period.

Could anyone hazard a guess as to what calibre is inside and the case reference and size? The dial looks original to me.

EDIT: Am I on the right track in thinking it could be an early 1950s 28.5 T-21 bumper automatic with a case size of around 34mm?

Don't know the reference, but it looks correct.

The watch might have the 28.5R-21 full rotor automatic, introduced in 1953. The bumper and rotor autos were produced in parallel for a few years. Your example has the correct hands, original crown and a clean waffle dial without any funk caught in the crevices. 😀 About 33mm.

Thanks guys for your advice

I think it's definitely worth taking the gamble as I really like the look of it and there doesn't seem to be many examples around of Tissot waffle dials from this period.

I hope the movement is in as good condition as the dial. I'm sure it will be in need of a service.
