So time I joined this thread with one of my latest pick ups. This is an 18kt ref 3903 known as the 'Cioccolatone' to those who like their watch nicknames. From around 1951 and measuring a healthy 33mm x 45mm it's very large for the period and has the same case design as the Cosmic TDMP 3944.
Interestingly many of the other contemporary manufacturers were around this period also producing similar sized and shaped watches. This design ethic must have been hot for only a few years because by the mid 50's they were out of favour and production stopped.
Nice.
I have one similar that I'm going to repair when I get the the parts and time.
Cal 27?
Cheers, Michael
Two manual 50's jumbo Longines about the same case diameter ~37mm excluding crown, but one wears significally larger than the other
T TobexHere is my 44mm. I know, that at that time Omega and Tissot worked together, maybe you will be able id for me this specific watch, similar to omega CK2039 9
dibs 😀
Dibs is short for first dibs, ie if you are selling it, they want the first chance to buy it 😀
And people actually take this seriously! I put a watch up for sale last year that I had completely forgotten that someone called dibs upon once upon a time- I don’t keep a list!
Another member reached out and actually pointed me to the thread and said if the dib-ser didn’t want it, then he would be interested. Sure enough, the orginal dibs caller had not seen my listing but was thrilled to buy it.
I like the term dib-ser! It’s good that buyer actually meant dibs on it as it’s an easy comment to say without seeing it through, and what a memory the other member had.
