Vintage car/ watch pairings

I only have half the pairing here. It could be mint original as I received it,
63 MOG.jpg
or, going against the grain, "modified with a white face" to be a little more practical.

but so far there is no 1963 watch to pair with this. Suggestions? Needs to be German made, utilitarian, tough. It might be leading to my next purchase, who knows.

These are a few suggestions for you. First one is a Ruhla, an East German watch from around WWII. The second 2 are from my collection, 2 Doxa German watches, one from 1945 and the other from 1941. s-l1600.jpg 1642277503983.jpg

Also thought of this one if you wanted something a bit more contemporary from the 60's and the 70's, a Doxa 300T

Cheers from Old Europe and have a nice weekend

Both are beautiful! I restored a 300SL in the 80's when you could actually find a modestly priced base to start with. Too out of reach nowadays!

...and I also pair up my Submariner 1680 with my vintage 500SEL.

I was invited to drive that model's predecessor the 450SEL around SF Bay to transport five weary sailors after a weekend on the Bay in a February storm. The car wafted along so smoothly that at one point I realised I was was the only person not asleep. On arrival the owner of the car asked what I thought of it. I said I thought it was was a bit loose and rattly for something with nine thousand miles on the clock, so he pointed out it was a million mile odometer not the usual hundred thousand. Ah, misread it, my mistake 😬

But I'd have had it in for service on the suspension joints :whipped:

My father had a big Benz back in the 80’s (after his Rolls was totaled- horrifically sad story). You could go through a brick wall and run over a crowd of people and not even know it.

And since I am being nostalgic- these were my father’s pairings during my youth (cars are web pics- watches are still in the family)

That's a quality it shared with the MG MGB. I have been a passenger (rally navigator) in an MGB going through a brick wall. At 04:00 on Sunday morning there were no crowds of people to attack though.

Bit too early, the Mog is a 63 vintage but great ideas for some more research.

Now that looks a lot like the Mog.

I pair up my panda Ripley Seiko with my JDM Nissan S13. Not quite a perfect match but these are what I'm able to get my hands on!
I would expect a JDM to be RHD, no? I’m only superficially aware of these things so I’m open to being corrected. Nice pairing, anyway 😀 I’m envious of them both and they inspire a good deal of nostalgia in me.
