·1969 Caravelle Sea Hunter (by Bulova) Ref. 41585 - powered by Carvelle Signed 11DP (Citizen 0241) 17J manual wind movement. Fitted on the "HOLY GRAIL" of Caravelle bracelets, the full coffin link by Bulova with Caravelle signed clasp!
This Reference 41585 at 37mm was the no-date model (made in Japan) to its brother, Ref. 49482 (Swiss made) 35mm with date, powered by a Bulova 11UPACD automatic movement (modified ETA 2874). Both are considered part of the Bulova "Devil Diver" family at 666/Ft Waterproof rated.
This particular example had not seen the light of day for 30 years as it was stored in a watchmakers safe!! It was recently "estate-sale" purchased (along with a box of pocket watches) by one of my watchmakers. He fully overhauled the movement and I was lucky enough to have it join my collection.
I have always liked the simplicity of this reference with its no date 3-6-9-12 full lume dial layout, larger 37mm size, "T JAPAN T" marking, box crystal, and dauphine hands. Not overly expensive back in 1969 at $29.95, but a heck of a nice watch & honest. Hell, how can you NOT love something that's sold as “Bold, Brawny & For Men”!!
Finding this Sea Hunter along with the highly coveted original full coffin link bracelet, especially in this type overall condition, is an absolute thrill!
