My buddy from the Army just got his J&J. Just called. He was on the fence, saying he was 50/50. He's a smart guy, was concerned about complications he heard about. He knew they were rare, but was distrustful.

His mom and brother got covid. His brother has a construction company and didn't believe in vaccinations because he has strong immunity system. He got hit hard as did everyone who worked for him. He's in the hospital. Their mom is 83 and was vaccinated. She has diabetes so went to live with his brother, who gave her covid. She only has a mild cold.

My friend decided that was enough evidence. His mother, who is 83, has a mild cold after testing positive for covid. His brother, heathy and strong, is in the hospital.

I'm happy for my friend. Thankfully it looks like his mom will be okay (mine wasn't, but she didn't have the chance to get vaccinated.)

If anyone has the opportunity to get vaccinated and decides not to, good for you. Please don't go to the hospital and expose other people. Don't use up valuable hospital resources that could be helping people who want help. Please don't go to work. Be a man, and just stay home and suck it up. Good luck with that.

Hi guys,

Be careful with the Variant Delta. Ask and persuade people around you who hasn't got vaccinated to get the jab.

My office (in Jakarta) went from 2% case (Feb 20-May21) to 25% case (Jun-Jul 21) in past 6 weeks. Most young people, who are highly educated and follow health protocol. None of the case triggered at the office. This is serious highly contagious variant.

As information actuall as today only MRNA vaccines protect from Variant Delta.

On monday I got my second jab on Moderna and had a light flu yesterday which has turned out to normal as today.
I really don`t recommend Moderna compared to the other MRNA vaccines 😁 (just kidding).

As it seems that we have to be vaccinated once in a year against this virus like vaccination against flu I really hope they invent something with less side effects.

Hello everyone, not just the MRNA vaccines are effective against the Delta variant-- Astra Zeneca was also proven to be.
However that study conducted on Pfizer/BioNtech and AZ shows they are both ineffective after the first shot, you need the second shot to be protected relatively well.
That was a study published in Nature last week,
conducted by Pasteur Institute along with other French research institutions.

Edit/ add- The study above also shows that if you’ve had CoVId previously, immunity against the Delta variant requires 4 times as many antibodies than against the Alpha variant.
People who’ve had covid really need a booster shot.

Happy to help, I just added one additional / important finding in that study about immunity when you’ve had covid.

Just to reinforce what @Syrte said and @pdxleaf ’s message.
Here are the slides from Downing Street’s presentation from Monday 12 July, focusing on the Delta variant.
(When they note ‘vaccine’ they include all vaccines - but the main ones used here are Pfizer and Oxford AZ)
While they say ‘estimated’ figures, they are using ‘real world data’ to compile the figures

Limited protection against contracting Covid after one jab.
Reasonably strong protection against contracting Covid after 2 jabs.

Reasonably strong reduction in hospitalisation after one jab
Astonishingly strong reduction in hospitalisation after 2 jabs.

Ive had 2 shots of Pfizer here in Ireland now.
No side effects really apart from a bit of tiredness after the 2nd.

Have my EU cert so can eat out when restaurants finally open in a few weeks.

My wife, parents, and adult children are all double vaccinated. I had AZ and everyone else was all Pfizer or Moderna. Canada stopped using AZ for 1st doses just after I got mine.

Some more compelling data in support of the effectiveness of the COVID19 vaccines. Some vaccines are OK, some are good, some are great - but these are amazing

As of yesterday I have had both doses of Moderna.

First dose I had a very saw arm and back, swollen glands in my armpit, and a mild headcold.

Last night I was running a fever, and this morning I'm achy all over like when you have flu.

The benefits to me and everyone I come into contact with, far outweigh a little bit of discomfort though - very happy to be vaccinated. 👍

Oh, and was wearing this issued CWC G10 from 1976 that was very kindly gifted to me by a fellow watch collector (Achim) who's over in Germany.

When I got my second shot of Pfizer BioNtech I had heard that Paracetamol was good to minimize side effects. The doctor who interviewed me before I got the second shot confirmed and said I could take my pill (1000mg) preventively right there and then in the waiting line. I had zero side effect for the second shot while my arm had ached for 3 days on the first shot.

One of the screening questions for Moderna here in London was to ask if you had taken any pain medication in the last 4 hours.

I’ve read online that Canada is also not recommending pain killers before shots of Moderna.

Unsure of the reasoning, but given my total lack of medical training, I shall continue to do as I’m told. 😁

Same here... Though I only took one after each shot, none before. And aside the arm ache, it went like a letter in the post ( as the French saying says 😀 )

Maybe they’re asking that question in case some people are using some hard core opioids?
In any event I would do exactly like you and so what I recommend is to do like me: have it in your pocket and ask the doctor if they recommend it. I got my second shot in a military hospital and believe me they were not joking.

No watch pictures here but I enjoyed taking these as a souvemir of the staging area before entering the hospital. People waited in the tents by groups of 8 before they were ushered inside the hospital by service members. I wish I could have taken a picture of the two tough nurses who stuck that needle in my arm but even with masks they seemed as sullen as sumo wrestlers and it didn’t cross my mind to ask.

Many pain killers are inflammatory regulators and would tame down the burgeoning immune response to the viral antigens from the vaccine. Might might result in weaker antibody production.

Covid aside, would you say the same to those who use up valuable hospital resources due to, for example complications arising from obesity, std’s or smoking? These can be prevented to a very high degree or are certain preventable diseases ok to spend resources on?

So that last 24 hours were pretty rough - fever, full body ache, total lack of concentration, and my coordination was also affected.

Have slept for 12 hours straight. Now feel a little worn out, but otherwise back to normal.

Given this, or spreading Covid to others/getting really sick myself - I’d choose this any day of the week.

Still mildly disappointed that I did not turn into the Hulk though.
