In essence, fully agree.

I believe the OP discussion topic was to understand the "humongous" extra complications an international sales bring when posting in an "international enthusiasts forum".

I assume local/national fora exist where such hassle free transaction can be concluded.

Now, ofc, one can post *whatever region* only transaction in an international forum too. It just seems odd to do the effort to post in that case.

Yes you captured the essence of my feelings on casual sales offerings posted here by USA members. This is most definitely an "international enthusiasts forum" so having to indulge oneself into the occasional filling out of an overseas custom form should simply go with the territory of posting an ad. It's not difficult and of course the foreign based member knows risks, delays and duty payments might be a part of it as well.

100% agreed.
Considering OF costs nothing to join and charges no commission on sales to a captive audience of enthusiasts I would hope that most sellers would take a similar view.

If you are giving them away I will fly over there and take them off your hands and even buy you a drink 😉
You want to fly over here for a $350 Hamilton Langdon "cld", I'll definitely give it to you for making the trip. 😁

😀 silly me. When you said "them" I assumed watches in the plural and definitely including the Railmaster 🙁

Ah, no. I'll keep it and wear it before I piss away that much money on a non-relative while on my deathbed.

Unless you're a hot chick and certain considerations are involved (like cleaning my bathroom).

As @Dan S expressed, the insurance can be an issue. I recently sent a watch to a fellow forum member (who is actually on this thread), who lives in the UK. What raised the hair on the back of my neck while standing at the post window was paying $54 to ship the small box to England and they would not let me insure it- I asked for different methods and they said that I could only ship by one method and no insurance whatsoever.
Both the buyer and I held our breathe until it arrived- it’s just an uncomfortable risk. If USPS has lost the package, I would have had no recourse whatsoever, and I couldn’t expect the buyer to bear the cost when he never had even laid hands on the watch. This watch was not very expensive, but I’m sure my anxiety would have been far greater had it been worth many times more. I most likely would have walked out of the post office with my watch wondering how I was going to get it to the buyer who had already sent me money.

What if someone drives over? I got an old moped that probably gets around 120 MPG so Connecticut to Wisconsin is doable. If I can convince another close by member to ride double with me it can be almost like the Dumb and Dumber movie. How about it Walrus? Norfolk? Up for a road trip? 😁

That only warrants a $125 Gruen.

And very thankful I am. This thread was due a photo and this is the perfect opportunity

You sending it via private jet? I just shipped over 10 watches in a fairly heavy box to England from Connecticut and it was around $26 via USPS.

Perhaps that included insurance?

I’m going to sell a watch but will only ship it within a 14 mile radius of my home so I get get the thread more amped up.

That's nothing. I'm gonna limit sales according to age, sex, religion and ethnicity 😁

Wow I am really out of it today, my apologies.

I can understand the confusion as his posts are so verbose it's like he's being paid by the word 😁

I can’t ship to Mexico anymore. That big, beautiful wall keeps blocking my parcels. 🙁
