In the "flea market world", 1 out of 2 don't use the internet. 😉
Probably true but slightly sad... I wish it was 1 out of 100 😁

I wanted to do a quick update to you guys about the watch I bought in October.
I had it serviced by a very experienced watchmaker who also changed the lume in the watch hands, now it looks a lot better, I will post some photos of that as well.
I filed for an extract of the archives at OMEGA but unfortunately my order was canceled as they the didn't find anything on the information I gave them. I tried to ask them if they would give me the bit of information that they could find, but they refused that as well..

I have been talking to several watch connoisseur's and we cannot find out whether this is a railmaster which has been switched to a flightmaster dial or whether it may be a prototype that OMEGA made, with the intention of producing a flightmaster watch for the public, as the weird thing is that it does not have any engraving on the back, besides from the seahorse.

Anyway I am now stuck in this case, and I am thinking about just leaving it here.
But before I left it I wanted to kindly ask all of the connoisseur's in here what their opinion in this case would be? If you have an idea, please feel free to share it.

Kind regards

Very nice update! Watchmaker did a decent job changing lume in hands, even same texture!

Thank you very much! I was a bit worried about how it would end up looking, but I think it is quite okay 😉

Very nice job!
I would search a silver ring for the dial. I don’t like the black one (is not the original).

Exactly! I noticed that the watch had one before it went to the service. But as the old glass was broken, we had to replace that. Fortunately the watchmaker gave me the old glass, so I still have the ring. Ever since I got it back, I have been thinking about that steel ring. Thanks for noticing!!

I also had @kox trying to investigate the watch. He found something that might look like an omega logo, or a half crestcent at one of the lugs. I have tried to get a clear photo of it

Can you not put the original back? Is it in bad shape?
The ring itself is in good shape, only the glass was damaged, so maybe my watchmaker could put it in😕

He should. The large inner ring is the character of the watch.

This is not part of an Omega Logo. And you do not have a Prototype. i had 3 flightmasters over the last 30 years. all came back with excerpts from the factory. looks like your movement does not belong to this watch. reason? in the 1980`s many spareparts were sold in peru from the guys, who serviced them for the FAP. empty cases, spare (and not Flightmaster engraved) backs . dials. hands . so, that movement is easy to find and off you go, another Flightmaster is born. like the IWC MK 11 watch and spare parts government auctions in the UK. many MK 11 watches were "born" then. and because they had more parts watches than dials, an UK dealer had dials printed with a weird logo and a few in white. and then came the dealers "Legends" from the extremly rare white dial MK 11 for the Royal Navy.....google it and then you have one story from the strange world of government issued military watches and what happened after decommission and government auction sales. you have a nice put together. wear it for what it is and be happy. no mystery here. kind regards. achim

Thank you very much for your answer achim. That does put me a lot in the right direction.
The reason why I thought it was an omega logo, is that it can be seen more clearly on this watch, which has nearly the same story as mine. https://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/v...MXZOS4K4I-3iR-wLepI7t41GkP5S_Pn5MNc3hICSWRUKw
Anyway thanks a lot, I will defiantly look into the story about mk11's!! Kind regards, Anders

But @APAH, did you get a refund from Omega when they couldn't find any information about the serial? If so, they don't have any archive entry about this movement. If they kept the money there is a discrepancy.
