I have looked closely at that watch and it has all sorts of problems.

1) The hand on the 6 o'clock register is the thin type from the older style watch and doesn't match the other registers.

2) The second hand should be bright red, not orange.

3) The second hand is too long.

4) The bridge has been recently replaced and is not the correct piece for this movement.

It's a shame, as I got very excited when I first saw it. I hope someone isn't silly enough to pay the asking price for it!

You forgot to mention that end links and clasp do not look right. UT end links were used on polerouters and bracelet should have a gay freres clasp which it does not (it seems). As far as the movement goes, it is not a UG V72 (or UG's caliber 85) as UG never inscribed their V72's in gold. Seems someone has takes a V72 and stuck a UG bridge on it ...

I cant live with all of those, but if you can, then it may well be the watch for you !

All the hands are correct except for the one at 6 o'clock. The hour and minute hands were repainted but original. Regarding the movement, following your smart reasoning ,the original owner probably took it out and sold it to your grandma and replaced it for this one at a later time.hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Been watching this since the beginning, it's a bit too much for me that it's already on 400 USD with 6 days to go. Who knows what the sale price is going to be with all the crazy prices lately 👎

Very informative tho, especially on the use of the rarely seen Film-Compax

Currently at $1409. Madness. I think I have one of those lying around somewhere... another item bound for the safety deposit box.

Indeed. The International Union of Mental Defectives appears to have officially started to collect UG paraphernalia.

They do know you can already buy a watch at that price, right? Or they'd rather read about it than own one?

Good Morning,
new to this superb forum, my first post is on an experts advice for a UG Polerouter de luxe.
I already own 3 Polerouters and I am looking for a stunning de luxe for quite a while...

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Universal-Ge...103401?hash=item35fbd1e469:g:OgUAAOSwzgRW0JUn

I so far have not seen any Polerouter without the U-Logo under the 12 - aside one single reference-pic on polerouter.de
Is this really an original dial?

The seller also has a Polerouter Cal 215 - de luxe listed, but the dial seems to have a damage.

Thank you
Stefan

Indeed, here's the one from polerouter.de. While non-logo versions are less common among images available online, I would not draw any hard inferences on that basis. LouS' example alone shows an original dial. In your case, the seller's pics are a bit fuzzy, so details of the execution itself are difficult to see, although the proportions look fine from a distance. In other words, I would lean on the side of a non-logo dial being a bonafide variant. As for the particular piece you are looking at, I'd consider asking the seller for a pic with better resolution of the dial.

P.S. One might ask whether a non-logo Deluxe might simply be the result of a disengaged/lost/otherwise removed shield (i.e. As in it once had a shield, but it is now gone). Based on a quick scan, I don't think this is the case: on DeLuxe models with a shield, the text tends to begin at about 2 o'clock and thus leaves room for the shield. On sans shield variants, the text tends to begin closer to 1 o'clock, as if the layout was conceived of in recognition of the shield's absence - by design, in other words. As usual, the plot continues to thicken.

YUM! where is this?

It is a really nice looking 22502 ...

Now that the parafinalia is reaching record breaking prices , and as there was no interest, I decided to add it to my collection. Soon, most of us will only be able to see a UG in the images gallery if this frenzy continues. Compared to Heuers of the same (60's and 70's) era though, they have a long way to go!

Get them while you can !

LouS, Severin,
thank you for picture and observations!
I will ask the seller for a HiRes-Pic.
