Wrong on so many levels. Offered by Kaplans auctions. Barge and pole.

I don't know the subs too well. I've seen this one en passant. What's wrong with it?

Incorrect bezel, hands and crown

Ah yes, thought you might say hands and crown. The bezel confuses me though. I have seen it before, but seems strange compared to the more common models. But doesn't the case and dial look right? Where does that bezel come from?

The case is an asymetric version and is OK. Not sure where the bezel is from. Dial is fine.

Here's mine for comparison

Bezels somewhat similar to that one exists, but something exactly like it I've yet to see:

Definitely need more photos to be sure.
Those are the only one I got. As per @jordn , the watch is a bad example anyway.

Can you elaborate any more on his comments and help a newbie learn? From what I saw, it looked correct - potentially the hands were relumed but hard to tell from the pictures. The case looks polished or potentially one of the fakes floating around...

Gladly! As per Jordan (I hope he doesn't mind me quoting him) - "the dial, while it's in decent shape overall, is missing all or most of its original lume. Inside of the lugs seem to have been polished which is very odd and the bezel is a replacement I think. It may be a genuine article, but it's relative pristine condition in comparison to the rest of the case and the off-center lume dot bothers me. I would get a second opinion, but the watch would be an easy pass for me. "

looks like a very desirable 1st exec example to me. all of the points that were raised would not put me off. Reference and serial number would help bu generally wear off on subs ... 😉

Hello,

a short wake up call from Berlin!!😉 There is a Berthoud Chronograph in steel on ebay and under the radar.
It has an UG 386 movement, dial, hands and case looks all original to me. Sure condition of case and dial is used and the olive pushers(!!) have sign of wear, but i´m sure: with a little help it will be a real beauty!!
http://www.ebay.it/itm/Chronograph-Universal-Geneve-Berthoud-/252147598020?
I just decided not to bid because I found an other rarebird chrono from the 60´ies yesterday, that fits in my collection perfectly😉.

Only 7 hours to go, no offer and start price at 500€. Just go for it👍, I think it is a bargain.

Not really a bargain I believe. Looks like a redial.

If it's a redial I think it's a very good one... All hands are the perfect length, tachymeter lines up with chapter ring, weights are consistent... What makes you think it's a redial?

Really? I am already in doubt starting with the "Berthoud" I would say it is a bad logo job. But I am no Berthoud expert, it just lacks the refinement I find in UGs.
And below, a picture that has more refined printed name. I would have been more receptive to the below. (Picture from Internet)

Have to be honest - the second one looks like the redialed one to me.

To be honest as well, I am pretty bad at judging dials, never quite get it right. But I would sure take the second one over the first one on any day. I am sure the grandmasters can chime in.

Is it me or does that second hand look croocked ? 👎
