I think the case back says it all ...

Nice dust cover馃榾
Most likely they have simply turned out this. I would assume its a test production. Possibly a sample of some sorts?
The case style itself is of the same type as used on some Lemania cal 2980 alarm watches and also later on some 1340/1040 based watches for Tissot and loads of others (the one below was found on the net).

Never saw one like this before.

No, and I hope very much to never see one again.

I'm not satisfied that the dial is original. I particularly dislike the font of the minute and tachymeter track. It has also had a polish or four.

Can you please be a little more frank, Lou?

Lol you're such a dick and I love it. I'm literally laughing out loud ( I read your comment in "Tony" voice).

Have you ever pulled a punch...in your whole life??

Don't make 'em like you no more.

Probably authentic because too improbable to fake, generic & undistinguished design, a parts-bin assortment of a 'factory-franken,' the death-throes of a once-great company.

I had a feeling this one would make the "front page".

BTW - I can always tell the really good UG's because nobody will mention it (quietly hoping that (((you're))) the only one who saw it)

Unlike this one...

Saw this Polerouter Date for sale on Chrono24. Difficult to tell from small screen of my telephone, but looks like accent is missing from second e in Geneve and, although I am less sure, not a signed crystal. I find this remarkable given asking price of 1000 Euro. I've seen the Spanish seller move a few nice Polerouters in the past.

Man, if that pole router is worth eleven hundred bucks, I'm like a ...billionaire!

Really like the bezel and case even though the case it looks like it's been polished once or twice, but what is that Telesport dial? Is that something that UG made?

Also, looks like the movement is missing a couple screws and another 2 screws are loose as well? Apart from that, it's a nicely aged Universal if it's all original! Or maybe the good photos contributes heaps to it as well!

I've never seen 'Telesport' on a UG dial before but I have no reason to doubt it is original.

All-original, honest example with an interesting case. I don't see any missing screws and the loose screws don't mean much since the movement will need servicing anyway. I think the case is in great shape for its age and it has retained the three-tier lug facets well, but the top right lug does indeed look like it's been slightly polished. Too pricey given the condition of the dial imo.

Telesport is probably some long gone retailer, but a quick google search reveals that there is a sporting equipment store in Norway by the same name. Founded in 1990 though 馃槣. Here is another example of a Telesport Uni-compax in the same case (not the same watch).

I can assure that TeleSport in Norway has nothing to do with nice UG chronographs馃榾!
Tele in that context would most likely be short for Telemark which is both a local region and type/style of skiing equipment.

Indeed, that would be an extremely elegant chronograph to wear for winter sports! Perhaps a sports broadcasting company? As a gift to select employees?

Apparently Ben Clymer rec's a buy on those older UG gold chronos:

That ain't news in these parts, brother!

That is true for specific sales/auctions, but it is still somehow possible to score very nice 18k UG and Zenith chronos in the $2k range, even the 37-ish mm models, despite some long term drum-banging from the Hodinkee team. I agree these are still a good buy.

Only because the hobby is so focused on steel tool watches, the beefier the better. The dress chronograph has remained a connoisseur's market...for now. That's fine by me.

Speaking of gold Compaxes, here's mine listed on eBay. Forgive the shameless plug. All original, save the crown and 18ct gold

Fer Pete's sake, why don't you list it on the sales forum?
