Franken. That dial and the external bezel case do not go together.

That dial is probably from the mid 1940s to 50s. The case is not UG and probaby from a 70s watch. The fact that its coming from an Argentinian seller confirms that it should be avoided like the plague.

The pictures in that listing look like they are from Auctionata.

Any reason not to recommend this one?
I guess the price should not go much higher.

Tri Compax alert. Place your bets. I think this will go north of £8500
Torn on whether or not I'd call this a "good" example. Bezel is...how was it termed for Speedies...a "meteorite" bezel? And the case looks to be quite polished - the facets on the lugs aren't nearly as sharp as they should be. That said, dial is in decent shape, hands all look good/proper, and the Portuguese date wheels are a nice point of differentiation. Movement looks to be in good shape too.

I'm going to guess 8K pounds.

Really like the bezel and case even though the case it looks like it's been polished once or twice, but what is that Telesport dial? Is that something that UG made?

Also, looks like the movement is missing a couple screws and another 2 screws are loose as well? Apart from that, it's a nicely aged Universal if it's all original! Or maybe the good photos contributes heaps to it as well!

I just got this watch. I have a thing for patinated dials, and for vintage gold watches, and this particular case and dial details really do it for me. I sent the seller an offer half hoping they would say no but they agreed. At that point it would have been all sorts of rude not to follow through... If nothing else hopefully I saved enough to have it serviced.

Congrats on your purchase! Good looking watch for sure, especially that case reference! I'm the same with you for patinated dials, that's what attracts me to the watch originally!

That dial looks a bit modern for me for that case, though the ref number dated back the watch to 1960. But I thought that they would've changed their logo already in the early 60s?

Looks like a nice watch tho!

It is very early 60s model before UG stopped using the cal. 28x series and started using 3rd party movements.
