Yes... Dial, engravings. Basically the only real part is the movement.

yeah the engravings are definitely terrible. i just wrote "caseback" to be all-inclusive. Could you point out what is bad about the dial? just want to learn, looks ok to me

I love the military markings... because sometimes you need to synchronize moon phases before a commando operation.

What a mashup. Hideous-fascinating, like a jack-knifed tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes when you're driving southbound

would anyone be kind of enough to lend their opinion on this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301473303911?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

From what I've researched most everything checks out, save for the description claiming it's over 70 years old, as these were apparently made in the 1950s. I'm very new to watch collecting and am still developing the eye for what to look for. The movement looks like it might have some marring, but outside of that, any opinions would be appreciated, thanks!

Repainted dial. I like this model... I would look for a more original example.

I thought the dial look too clean. Thanks for the reply! To further my learning, may I ask what the giveaways were, or what you look for to identify a repaint? Thanks again.

OT but that's a really cool avatar pic, is that a coffee machine from an angle I've been too tall to ever see?

ha, thanks. The espresso machine is on the counter, I was just crouched down and shot it at an upward angle.

That's a good start, noting that the dial looked too clean. I'm always suspicious of a very clean dial, but... a big BUT... you can miss the boat on a pristine example if you're not prepared to recognize it for what it is. Sometimes too clean is just right.

The color of the lume jumped out at me as a re-lume, and the font didn't look right. Some of the hash marks on the minute register looked unusually thick... over-inked, like the too-bulbous dots. Compare it with this Kosher-looking example of a ref 20503 with cal 267 and look closely at all the details - you'll see what I mean:

Great advice and information, many thanks. It's amazing how obvious those red flags are when comparing to your linked example.

Found this on the bay, something feels off to me (the swiss in the inner case back reminds me of a franken I bought earlier last year)

I see nothing wrong with the above watch, other than I'm always suspicious about red seconds hands.

Very hard to correctly reproduce the UG logo inside the caseback. There is a small amount of radium burn on the dial. That's a good thing, at least for originality. Case has been polished a bit, but not too bad.

All comes down to price.
