Interesting one: reference 20509 both inside and outside (although I'm not 100% convinced of the outside one) https://www.ebay.fr/itm/275725737542

It looks like a pre 40s compax and i like it ... It would not take a lot to get it going. I dont think the dial is broken. Looks more like some sort of mod or may have been dropped and bent/damaged. From what i can see, you could probably straighten it and once in the case, you would hardly notice it. What you need is a side shot ! It would make a very nice period UG if you could find a case (that would be a miracle).

I agree. Cutout is normal in these earlier dials, it enables its removal. And I too think it’s a redial.

Why do you think it is a redial ? It is an early dial but from what I see, it is in line with style and quality and character of early dials. imperfections are common. Here is a 22209 and shows similar traits ...

I think it’s a redial (or partial redial) because IMHO this particular dial should look like this (including the “Contax”) sign - see image below. Because this is actually a Contax cal. 285 movement. I am particularly suspicious about the subdials font and printing and relationship to the other scales on the dial.

Agreed but these 5's are really weird.

I have the exact same feeling. Strange font choice for the minute numerals. Also, the position and relationship of minute track and subdials is rather unusual. Furthermore, I would think that with this serial there shouldn’t be “Swiss” on the dial…
But who knows - the photo is not very sharp…
