3400 euro is on the high end of the scale imho. And then I assume the buyer does not have to pay taxes 😁 But still: rare bird. I have seen about 25 of them in total. Dial is nice (later service dial?)

Are we still talking about the Bonhams 224102?
If yes, what makes you think the dial is a "later service dial"? It is a similar/same configuration as was seen at Bernardini or on IG profile ur5959 (which both have replacement crowns... while the Bonhams example has an ugly and rusty replacement 12h subdial hand).
Regarding the price I would tend to disagree with you too 😉, but well, ok, if tax/VAT is added it´s not "bargain" anymore, but still a fair price IMHO.

My gut feeling is that these were later dials. The dial in Sala for this reference is different anyway…

If it was "only" 3400 Euros...
- VAT on premium
- shipping
- import duties
- service
All this makes it a 5k watch for the non-UK people.

Concerning the dial: Imho it's completely original.

Or you fly in and pick it up yourself ;-)

I think the dial is 100% UG but I am (still) not convinced that it left the factory that way.

Anyway: I have 11 of them on record and I think all of them have a different dial. I know 1 with the Sala dial 😁

Surprised to see this BA Polerouter with little action on Ebay. Late flurry, or am I missing an obvious fault? I'd expect a number on the case back, but what else?

I suspect there will be a late flurry of bidding although within reason as it's gold capped rather than steel and the dial is showing its age (all that radium will be a factor).

The numbers are not visible on the case back photo but they might still be there and legible with a loupe. I've not had any correspondence with the seller to ask. I note that the watch has been added to the Polerouter reference gallery as an S20214-14. I'm not sure if that is an assumption or based on further discussion with the seller.

But to answer your question, I can't see much else wrong with it.

Hadn't seen that it was added to the reference gallery. Will be interesting to see what it brings w/o a reserve.

Another bumper seemingly under the money ($530), at two days out anyway. The "Polerouter" script looks a bit thick to me, but otherwise seems to check out (seller notes lack of "Swiss," but it appears it might be peeking out from the chapter ring as is the case with the example in the reference gallery).

A strong result in the end I thought ($3450 for the record). Did anyone here buy it?

I looked at it but was suspicious of the seller. They claimed it was their grandfather’s watch when clearly they are a dealer. Moreover the photos were the exact same ones as the one on the reference website.

Perhaps the seller was playing the nostalgia card but I’m not sure there was much to worry about with all that positive feedback.

The photo on the reference website will have been taken from this eBay listing. It’s a rare reference so there aren’t many examples around.
