This 22280 (https://www.ricardo.ch/de/a/universal-geneve-compax-salmon-285a-1198114350/) is a very curious one for a couple of reasons:
- They forgot the last number of the serial (but the caseback itself seems legit)
- Reference must be correct (22279 and 22285 being the reference of close serials
- Movement has the one but highest serial I have ever seen. Have only seen one other with a 300 serial
- Caliber is marked 285A (if this would have a Porsche I would have thought Austauch (exchange)

A 22280 reference shouldn’t have a cal. 285 movement at all though, should it? (Should be cal. 281 or 283).
And it seems to be a redial too.

Correct observations. Think it is a Franken anyway. However I'm still very intruiged by the movement

Old friend?

This watch has been through numerous eBay auctions in the past year and comes back every.single.time.

It’s either a Hollywood reserve price or shenanigans, neither of which will ever result in a final sale.

Hello, I would really appreciate your opinion on this Universal Geneve cal 332. The dial looks really well preserved!

Hi @Arnold1973 - the bezel/crystal seems to be hiding the minute markers here and case pretty polished. Universal was one of the best/most creative brands in this era - if it were me I'd keep searching /exploring the brand for something more striking but ymmv..

That's a shame! I really dig the font and small seconds indices...

Interesting Aero on the bay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325054072212?hash=item4baebb8594:g:iakAAOSwSUZiDVl8

Description:
An exceptionally rare and complicated piece from once mighty Swiss manufacture Universal Geneve. UG watches were worn by some of the 20th century’s most prominent figures from Herman Goering to President Harry Truman to Eric Clapton to Nina Rindt, widow of Formula 1 champion Jochen Rindt.
This example dates from 2004 and is completely new and unworn. It is number 02 out of a limited run of only 100 and comes complete with original price tag (€5,725), certificate confirming its chronometer status, instructions, inner presentation box and outer cardboard protection box.
The complications include; hours, minutes and seconds; chronograph hours, minutes and seconds; day, date and month; 24 hour indicator, moon phase indicator and World time indicator. In several decades of watch appreciation, I have never seen so many complications in one mechanical watch! No surprise that it measures 44mm in diameter.
This is rare, it is special and it will appreciate in value in future so grab a bargain…as the watch dealing community would say “find me another one!”

Definitely rare but beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess...

What I find interesting is that they brought back the reminder dial. Its not a watch that I’d own but I wonder if the late model, pre- demise UGees are now beginning to percolate.
