Here's a dubious one from the bay, I mean Hodinkee https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/...rbF9lbWFpbCI6ICJhYXBhbGlsZW9AYm9vdGxlZy5waCJ9
Why don't they show the movement. I really hate that. Same for the current Sothebys auction. No movement pics (usual for them) but also no movement number because: (you won't believe this) 'there was no watchmaker around'. Nice mark up anyway: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Reloj-Cronografo-Vintage-Universal-Geneve-dato-Compax-ref-12495-Cal-285-de-Oro-/124566963248?_ul=AR&nma=true&si=wq7H%2Fb8uqJyEet6rshitl1vTNpA%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Asking was USD 5.250 and sold for USD 4.800 (and that was including a 18k bracelet) Anyway: AQ sold a close serial (430 vs 477 for the Hodinkee one) https://catalog.antiquorum.swiss/en/lots/universal-geneve-ref-12495-lot-296-185 Sothebys sold one in 2020: https://www.invaluable.com/auction-...8k-gold-manual-wind-calendar-105-c-d184e95945
I would ask the same question. Not to get all “miss manners” ish but it seems good practice to articulate the issues one sees in an offering. Just sayin.
Sorry for not being clear. I was implying what @Mark020 mentioned about this watch being on eBay. If memory serves me right, it was shared / discussed here before (thus my “bay-Hodinkee” point)?
See this at Phillips? Thoughts on "NOS" status? https://www.phillips.com/detail/uni...m=display&utm_campaign=Web Conversion-Artists
IDK about NOS but it's a very nice example. The case looks so sharp with brushing on the lugs and caseback. The only thing that stands out to me is the darker color of the month window.
22279 with a 287? More Franken than NOS... edit: I think those are real 22279. Interestingly enough, the last one was sold by Phillips... https://www.matthewbaininc.com/watch-details/2070 https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/19xx-ug-stainless-steel-tri-compax?variant=32960714539083 https://www.phillips.com/detail/universal/CH080319/52
That crown though... https://auctions.morphyauctions.com...RSAL_GENEVE_TRI_COMPAX_WRISTWA-LOT502897.aspx
That one was on C24 not too long ago. Even more special, and I think fresh to the market: a Film Compax https://www.cortrie.de/uhren/detail...sher-bekannt?back=/uhren/search&q=film&start=
I would say so yes. Original should look like this one: http://www.db1983.com/our-archive/universal-geneve-film-compax-1945
