But it comes with the original owner's pilot license!

I was told “a young buyer on eBay and a fail in my shipping cost”.

I’m really not sure what that means?

Sounds like an inexperienced buyer chose not to follow through with the transaction and that some sort of discrepancy over shipping costs was used as an excuse.

For the shipping costs, I can understand... He proposed a payment Paypal with hand delivery...really dangerous.
Without tracking number, the buyer can turn around against the seller, open a dispute on Paypal and say that he has never received the watch.
The seller is left penniless and without watch. 😲

Nina sold for $19,916 USD. Do you guys feel the market for them recently has dropped pretty significantly?

I'll leave others to comment on the market value of these watches.

The fact that the final price was roughly 10,000 Euros less than the last time this watch was sold on eBay reflects the loss in confidence of potential buyers as a result of the watch returning to the market for reasons largely unknown following the previous sale.

The question is "what is anything worth" ...

1. The seller sets the asking price. The asking price can be anything he likes a dollar or a million.
2. What the buyer is willing to pay

Asking price is rarely achieved as in most cases there is some haggling and final sale price is agreed.

Many factors (personal and other) can influence final sale price and what we see frequently is deals that are no where near what is considered to be the true value of the watch as in this particular case.

When selling, I always set a price that is based on previous sales and auctions and always leave a little room for haggling. I also set a lower figure and will not let it go below that. I do the same when I buy. There is a top figure and once i reach it, that is it.

The nina is a rare and unusual watch. One sure thing is that the number of ninas on the planet is only going south. I would not have sold the nina at that price unless I urgently needed cash for another deal but who knows what went on behind the scenes.

As the old saying goes though, "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" and that also applies to cash, better $100 in my pocket than a $200 watch.

IMHO, I think that currently there is a "bubble" with the late 60' UG chronos. 😒

There could be ...

However, UG is still quite reasonably priced compared to other houses. A good example is
Heuer, ulysse nardin and others; is a 1969 third gen 2446M autavia worth 35k ?

Prices like that make UG chronos look like an absolute bargain!

I have three inexpensive UG watches selling this evening on eBay. Please accept my apology as I'm fairly sure it's not the done thing to draw attention to one's own watches for sale. I mention only because I think I listed them incorrectly and I understand that international buyers cannot easily find the items.

In return for this transgression, I would be happy to offer free shipping to forum users.

If you search for the following eBay item numbers then hopefully you should be able to find the items.

Steel Polerouter - eBay item 382289994958
1960s steel Square - eBay item 382289964101
1950s steel dress watch - eBay item 382290004949

The only work if you go to the UK eBay site.

Why didn’t you try selling here first? Personally, I would have been tempted by the Polerouter Date, but the coffers are now empty fora while.

GLWS - I hope you realise the proper market value for these.😀
