We were trying to figure out what those perimeter screws on the case did. Theory was they held the case back on.
The two perimeter screws should be there but in this case they were the wrong style and size of screw. The screws in those two positions are usually slightly sunken or flush with no screw head. They are used in the "oversized" size models that house a 481. The diameter of the 481 is smaller so the larger cases have a base metal "fit ring". That ring is what's held in place by those screws (they are used to fasten the ring to the case). The movement then has two screws to hold it to the fit ring which you also see. In this case those screws appear replaced as well but are more in line with what they should be. In the non "oversized" models you would see the movement fastened directly to the case edge as opposed to the fit ring. Please let me know if that doesn't make sense or need additional detail.
I have shown the watch to 6 highly trained watchmakers and none can say that they could detect any signed of non originality.
So it's your watch? Is this your sales listing?
