I don't follow. What makes this a service dial? The listing does say it is "not working", but the position of the day wheel is more likely because of the time.

No it does not gradually change to the next day of week. It flicks to the next day.

Seven point star is flicked in place by a cam and a spring. A cam flicks it to the next day and the spring is responsible for ensuring it lands in the correct position for day. I think it is faulty.

The dial looks like a factory re-issue (60s not 40s). Acceptable but not what it was sold with.

Wasn't the consensus that the 60's UG service dials had short tail 9/6 and missing dash between Tri and Compax? Still its an OS Tri that is sure to draw a crowd.

Yes, the short tails are one of the dials known to have been commissioned in the 60's. There are others ...

With my Tri's, the day wheel slowly creeps as the time approaches midnight then flicks to the next day. I've always attributed that to the length of the teeth, but wear and tear could be playing a part.

There are others ...
What are the others, and what makes them, and the one in question, later service dials? We discussed the non-dash dial in this thread, but I've never heard mention of others.

Insider trading.

We're family here, got a direct message asking how much I was bidding.

Auction is over by now, anyone get it?

That's fair play then. What was the winning bid?

Not to mention service cost, and the month wheel that needs replacing. Bit too rich for my blood, definitely wouldn't mind owning it if the price is right!

If I needed another project in my life I think I would gamble on this one:

At first glance it looks like one of the hands has scored a circular mark on the dial (no mean feat given the metal indices) but is it just that there's a ridge, the right hand side of which has more dirt ingrained? You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din, in any case.

EDIT: Sorry I quoted the wrong post.

I was replying to the one above.

It says Polerouter Date on the dial... I don't see a date. Not to mention the other problems.

I think the only thing you can use on that is the back and maybe the case.
