Universal Geneve Watches On Ebay

I just have a very similar one in my collection. Not sure if it is really original from UG, but I think this regulator watches maybe have been build for UG from a third party. I just like wearing it a lot!

What makes me wonder is that dial of the ebay watch says 17jewels, but movement inside has only 15 jewels. And the printing of the hour subdial at 11 doesn´t fit. At least a reprinted dial imho. But as said before, not sure that these are origin UG watches at all...

Assuming a franken is part UG, perhaps there should be a new term. Not sure if fake is correct because that implies copy of genuine article.

there's a reason for that, and you can probably guess what it is 😉

Fair enough! Haha

Got excited for a second that it was a UG CP-2. But its too small for that, and doesnt have the A Cairelli markings...pity.

I did put a question to the seller and he claims it is not a franken but a restored watch ...

I don't really know what I would call it but restored to me is something that has been brought back to its original condition.

Can we all agree that this is a restored human ....?

This watch looks familiar. I do believe it has been trashed on this forum before. Last time I believe it was transacted for thousands and the buyer was able to return it.

I have come to learn that 3 words in the watch collecting words are seldom used correctly - homage, NOS and restored.

Fantastic memory Larry! Looks like that poster had the same thought as me at first...

UG collecting really is a minefield
