Hey all.

I'm been walking Tokyo and found this for sale.

Looks all correct to me but would like to seek your views on this.

Movement pic is a 215 microrotor movement.

Is there any serial for the microrotor to be dated (for it to be correct) or can it be swapped out for a generic ug 215 movement etc

Thanks !

I went to dazzling pieces (at omotesando). Planning to visit nakano for the rolex/vintage/unreachable haha.

Obviously one of the crowns isn't correct. But the dial looks legit, i.e. not fake. Does the inner bezel turn correctly?

Thanks - I’ll see if I can get there... if you want to try unreachable, have a look at Commit in Ginza - cabinets FULL of vintage Daytona’s that start at £40k..

Ciao,
tutto mi sembra corretto (quadrante, lancette, corone).
Un bel pezzo da includere nella collezione

I remain a bit skeptical of this claim. For what reason would UG have chosen two different style and sized crowns?

Why they have asymmetric crowns is an interesting and relevant question but I have absolutely no doubt that it is correct. We've seen so many examples with these exact asymmetric crowns and, in fact, I suspect the majority we see are like this.

I'm not a diver but I suspect the crowns are different sizes because they do very different jobs. One is a conventional crown for moving the hands and winding the watch and the other is for moving the internal bezel. The larger upper crown allows for it to be easily identified and also for it to be used more easily shortly before diving or perhaps even underwater.

Thanks. I don't dive. Would a diver ever have reason to make an adjustment under water?

It looks completely correct to me and in fantastic condition too.

I didn't understand your question about the Cal 215 and serial though. The case ref should be 20369/1 and the serial around the 2'100,xxx mark.

Later examples can have a Cal 218 but the Cal 215 is almost certainly correct. I've had quite a few and not had any issues with the movements, probably due to the great waterproof case design.

I'm not a diver but from my understanding when a diver is ascending back to the surface they have to go through decompression stages. This means staying at a set depth for a set amount of time. Not doing this routine correctly results in the diver getting "the bends" or decompression sickness. This is one of the reasons why most dive watches have a rotating bezel.

Also, cool watch. Most of the ones I have seen have lume on the inner bezel, maybe this one is a replacement? I'm sure someone with more knowledge of these will chime in to correct me 🤔.

I think both types of inner bezel are legit. It's another of the mysteries surrounding this reference.

It looks to have correct font and appears to be original to me. Some of the bezels on the Aussie fakes had a fatter font that was clearly different.

Also a tricompax going for a cool 23.8k USD

The sub is asking for 9.3k USD. @Mazoue had one for sale which looked better for a better price too.
