This is my first thread here, i came across to a lovely UG calatrava ref. 212207 trough IG (via avocadovintagewatches).

The dial looks ok to me, but i am a bit curious about the crown? shall i pull the trigger?

Is there anyone here who knows that reference and is able to share some information about it?

Let’s start with lume on dial but not hands. Then the printing is suspect. Then it appears as if the lume was removed from hour indices. This thing has been messed with, big time.

I don't know if I'm missing something but the dial looks fine to me. I don't see any lume on the dial, looks like metal nipples? Crown looks wrong. Need to know case size to evaluate if price is ok.

 

Went to the site ... better on printing but dial definitely appears to be lumed. Crown is probably not correct.

 

@bgrisso : i have the same guess, i am not sure if its lume or metal nipples.

I'm not seeing any lume either - metal divots and what might be mirrored/foil type numerals?

 

Wow ... guess we all need better pics then. I defer to the three hand experts here. I will allow that the gold furniture and foil/paint is plausible.

Agreed on the dots - looks like brass to me.

Yup - those nipples never held lume. Just brass.

 

What about the numbers? Paint? Foil ? Lume?

 

Obviously I know nothing about UG but this other one from him has a cool dial. Love the dots around the sub second

 

I would say likely foil. Though I think the dial may have been refinished, if not for the font, then for the finish. There's some crazing/cracking around 8 o'clock. A refinish would have unnaturally faded the numerals.

Just stumbled across this thread and sorry for digging it up, but would just like for the record share some picture of mine which is the same reference and same dial configuration. It can maybe help someone else in the future!

Hope these pictures give a better view of the dial but its definitely metal nipples and mirrored indices, so not lume anywhere on these dials.
Crown also looks similar to mine but obviously more wear on OPs example, so guessing its original.
