Two questions: SMP 300M Diver Rubber Straps

I'm looking at ordering a gray dial. I will probably spend most of its time mated to a bluen rubber strap, but I think I'm going to order it on the bracelet because the gray dial can dress up IMO a little better than the other versions and because it's obviously cheaper to add a strap than a bracelet post purchase.

Two questions:

1. How much is the actual OEM rubber strap from a AD or OB at retail? I know they occasionally surface on Ebay and what not, but I'll probably take the easy road. I watch Youtube videos, and frequently hear "several hundred" dollars, but can't find an actual list price anywhere. Is several hundred $300, $400, $600? Will an AD typically take a few bucks off?

2. Is the Zealande commensurate in quality and is it worthing saving some money over the OEM? If the Zealande was a $100 or so, I think I would order right this second, but it's now up to $175. At this price, is it worth going up to the OEM (Which is why question 1... I don't know the delta between the two) or is the quality of the Zealande sufficient to mitigate having to be gouged by the OEM version.

Thanks so much!

For #1 I don’t know the exact price but it’s closer to the $600 than the $300-$400.

I thought I saw on a YouTube video that it may be closer to $300. But I have no experience with it. I literally want to do the exact same and soon plan to purchase on a bracelet but hope to order a blue rubber + buckle separately. I imagine if you order it at the same time as the watch you may get a better deal on it.

The buckle and rubber strap is like $300. There’s no way a full bracelet is going to be that cheap.

Oops I misread. I actually meant the rubber with buckle. Is the $300 a fact?

That's what I wish I knew. I also should have mentioned that I will be adding the rubber strap as a separate purchase and, almost certainly, from an AD where I have no purchase history. In other words. I won't have the leverage of purchase history to get it a great price.

I don’t know the exact price but it shouldn’t be more than $400.

This person sells close to retail. The price listed for the strap doesn’t include the buckle which normally sells for around $50.

Ok thanks. While I’d still pay it, $400 seems steep for what it is. Hoping it’s <$300. Fingers crossed

I think I’m still a couple of months out before purchasing. However, when I do, I’ll try to post here to help anyone still looking. I hear it’sa very comfortable strap.

Looks like the OEM strap is the "steel Rolex" of rubber straps in that you can't find them anywhere...lol.

For $300, I'm all in for the OEM (I really like the triangle thing that holds the second slider in place). However, if we get into the $400 dollar range, I'm probably going for the Zealande, if only out of principle. Very similar material quality and wear equally as comfortable on the wrist according to reviewers. As an added bonus, you can buy one right now.

If anyone finds the OEM and buckle for sale, please keep me in the loop for the price.

Yikes.

That's like $340 USD for the strap and $80 USD for the tang buckle. Maybe I need to reevaluate how often I am going to use the bracelet and perhaps order the rubber strap version instead.

Keep in mind that’s for UK so you can’t just do a direct FX conversion because of VAT.

I've owned both. I kept the OEM, despite the significant premium (mine ended up being a little under CAD 400.00 all in). It has been great for the year and a half I've owned it, and still looks and feels as new. The Zealande was good, but both the strap and hardware looked and felt cheaper to me -- as indeed it was -- and I found it less seamless, comfortable and secure. Still good, but not worth the savings for me. YMMV.

My feeling was and is that if you plan to wear it mostly on the rubber, then the OEM is worth it. If you plan to wear it mostly on the bracelet and swap it over to the strap in summer, or whenever, maybe the Zelande or other options may make more sense. Lots here and elsewhere on this comparo.

I bought my SMP (blue dial) on the bracelet.

six months later my brother was buying his SMP and the AD just happened to have ordered some of the rubber straps from omega.

We paid £240 for the strap each, around $320

I can tell you right now it is worth every single penny. It fits perfectly as expected, it is extremely comfortable and the fine detail on it doesn’t go unnoticed. The buckle with the raised omega logo for example is just so well done.

Putting on a third party rubber strap to me is a great disservice to this spectacular watch.

If you get the opportunity to get the omega rubber the take it

You're already spending a few thousand on something you really want, buy everything you want to go with it. The rubber strap is phenomenal. I got mine for just under $300 from an OB, but had to wait a bit as there was a backlog on the buckles (pre-Covid).

Rubber strap from the OB is $250, tang buckle is another $50. I was quoted $760 for the SS bracelet.

I have attached a picture of the buckle to show the quality of this rubber strap, it isn’t usually clear from photos of it that it is this nice
