Ugh. I feel bad for him, but as I said, you shouldn’t have to pay for his mistake
I just hope I can get my watch back and that he can sue whoever ripped him off. He bought it from an auction and held it as a investment piece.

Also don’t forget that these watches used ETA’s and Tudor rotors are available all over eBay. It would be very easy for a watchmaker to open the back, see the rotor and say yup- that’s a Tudor.
Yup, and those ETA movements are quite cheap and easy to source

Depends on the terms of the auction. As someone who can be empathic, I would help him along trying to go after the auction (maybe sharing your research with him), but in the end- you need to be made whole as your were defrauded. No harm, no foul at this point if you get your watch back- but if he doesn’t send it back, and refuses your return (assuming this is in the US), he committed mail fraud- which is a federal crime.

maybe the auction was eBay? 🙁 I wouldn’t get so wrapped up on the authenticity of the movement. The case is wrong, the bracelet looks fake (find me another “5800” end link), the dial isn’t real, and again it should be a sapphire crystal not plexi .

Absence of wear and tear between the lugs is not a deal breaker. That said, I am afraid all of this is no good. Case is shaped wrong, aftermarket everything.

You need to return the watch and unwind the trade.

Dude wants me to get it checked somewhere. At this point it just feels pointless having to go to get it checked…

Perhaps you should send him the link to this thread.

I got the deal reversed and my watch back in my possession. Thank's to all who chipped in! 👍

Maybe asked before the deal next time….saves ending up holding the turd next time when someone won’t send your watch back….😗
