Trying to find a modern watch that may not exist.

Over the last year or so I have found myself liking “dress” watches more and more. I have been focusing more on vintage as they generally have better sizing for my small wrists. I'm looking for a modern watch that I would be able to wear more often and not have to worry about it quite so much as my old pieces.

The styles I like are generally 33mm to 38mm, manual wind, quite thin, blued hands, sub seconds and stylised (40s and 50s) Arabic numerals on a light coloured dial. This Helvetia that I own is a perfect example of what I mean.

Here are a couple of other examples.

I would also consider baton indices and center seconds as well.

I cant seem to find a modern watch that fills all of these criteria. Watches like Grand Seiko SBGW231 (looks a bit too 70s), Longines Heritage 1945 (a bit too big) & Heritage Military (not a big fan of the hands) have come close. The Nomos Tangente Neomatic is a little too “cold” and the Junghans Meister Driver Handaufzug font is a bit too boxy.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else could work?

Anordain gets my vote, again they’re SC only. But.....mmmmm

https://anordain.com/collections/all

The dials on these do look quite interesting. The hands on them just seem a little odd though. Definitely one I'd need to see in the metal first.

Master Ultra Thin Small Seconds.....

One of these is a possible, I haven't tried one of this reference on but I have tried a 1378420 on and it was just to big for me.

PP 5196.

Yes, that would work but they are a tad on the expensive side 🙁.

Also Timex Marlin

This could be a good budget option but I was looking for something a bit more "prestigious".

Since this is the Omega forum here are two omega options, the London olympics LE and the 1948 reedition.

Thought about going German with a Stowa or Nomos?

I like the Anordain, but their enamel dial manufacturing needs perfecting. Those hollows shouldn't be there around the post holes, they should be diamond drilled after firing in my opinion.

I’ve tried on the JLC (just spectacular and a great “value” IMO....it and the Omegas should top your list.

The Nomos in 36mm is a big deal. I've bought one for my father and is awesome at wrist! But, it serms that you need fixed aesthetic standards, so up to you 😀
