The eBay gods put an interesting watch in my search, and I went old school...hit BIN without reading the description and having no clue what in the hell I was buying. Well, I ended up with a winner. Not a whole lot out there on the ref.5703, some say 500 in white, 500 in black, and some say under 300 total made. It was released to boutiques back in 2012 without ever have been formally announced. The case is 42mm and not the standard 44mm of the other Portuguese. To slim down the profile to 7mm, they modified a 2.5mm thin Piaget 830 base into the IWC Calibre 62060. The dial is matte black with polished gold numerals that catches light at an astonishing rate...the hands are true to the original as well. The case is incredibly finished, and wears so well with the slim profile - it is balanced on the wrist. I needed a modern dress watch like I needed a hole in my head, but with the vintage market being insane, it was nice to buy an inexpensive piece that fits a niche in the collection. Plus, it has enough vintage aesthetic to keep me interested. IG Video: https://www.instagram.com/p/BpW55UtHl8U/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
Nice slim profile. Congrats! Every now and then its fine to “hit BIN without reading the description and having no clue what in the hell I was buying“.
