Total beginner - any tips please?

Its original enough and in pretty good shape. BUT, as DanS alludes, not a particularly desirable watch. The printed logo is kinda flat/plain looking on those. The movement looks good enough, though note it is NOT an automatic, hand-wind-only. That is perhaps problematic for a gift (since you're signing this up for a drawer most likely).

Price wise: They seem to go for ~4-600 USD, so unless your 'room for negotiation' is a 50% off, you'll be significantly overpaying.
