Very nice. Good price, too. I'm waiting on a strap from Aaron Bespoke before I wear mine.
I’ve ordered a couple too, including the grey suede with red stitching from Veblenist I received today.

I definitely think a strap in the grey tones with red accents is probably one of the best ways to go with this watch.

I heard the case back is really sharp, is it true?
The caseback isn't sharp at all. I will never understand what some people have been complaining about with it.

Many of the folks here have sensitive skin.

Received my watch strap from Aaron Bespoke, padded grey ostrich leg with light grey stitching and dark red lining. Top quality. Color details go well with the silvery, granulated dial and dark red bezel. This Speedmaster is very different when compared to other versions, the dial has a lot of texture and is a bit greyer than what you find on a Mitsukoshi or Apollo 35th version, and the dark red chapter ring is unique on a stainless steel Speedmaster. It has a more luxury feel to it.

For your dataset, just listed today here in the U.S. is a new “Rising Sun” from a well known secondhand shop at $11,950

(By chance, just a few weeks ago, this same shop offered me a trade-in value of $11,500 for my used Tokyo Panda)

I noted on another thread that Rising Sun prices have increased hugely in the last month or two. I just looked on C24 and now there are only 5 watches under £6,500 (and 2 of them are pretty close to that figure). Only a couple of months ago there were plenty at c.£5,000. The question I have is, are we seeing the beginning of another LE stampede driving prices up to unattainable levels (along the lines of the Panda)?

ALL OMEGA WATCHES ARE ON THE RISE. BUY AS MANY AS POSSIBLE.

Not trying to get pedantic, but the watch is listed by the seller as "like new", aka "used". Any potential buyer should do their due diligence and request lots of high res photos, or go see in person before buying, like they should do with any timepiece.

That is nuts. You can still buy them on C24 BNIB direct from Japan for a lot less.

I read somewhere Omega are raising prices from December. Is this true do you know?

Are any of those actually watches-in-hand, or are they all the middleman posts that may or may not have a watch to source?

Also, can anyone here report what the all-in import fees were when buying these from Japan?

Some are probably in hand, some are ads from middlemen who will source the watch from the Japanese market. Anytime you buy from abroad you have the issues of shipping, coverage while in transit and possible custom fees. If you are in the US it may come in with no fees due, if you are in the UK it seems assured you'll pay duty, it just depends where you live and the odds. How's your luck?

Buying from abroad is always an option, but there are more moving parts you have to deal with compared with working with a domestic dealer who has done all this work for you.

This watch is now three years old, how many BNIB Rising Sun's are still out there as it has become quite popular now? Yet they keep showing up from Japanese dealers.

Perhaps the occasional history of the lesser desirable models later become most desirable is at play here, but I was surprised to learn a year ago that these were still in stock in Japan. The Panda, for example, has been long gone.

In recent collector’s community “popular” perhaps, but to the broader (Japanese?) public, not so apparently.

There’s the first hurdle of buyer/seller fumbling over whether to under-report value (and so under-insure), etc.; then there’s the resulting hurdle of awaiting shipping, customs, loss chance, and then fees.

Accordingly, for this specific model, I can completely see there being an audience for an U.S. domestic rising sun for a premium.

Agree 100% - particularly for those folks who value ease and avoiding international complications (this particular seller mostly appears to focus on $50,000+ watches, so this ease of buying may be a mere rounding error for many buyers).

Possibly so, we'll have to see what the future brings. Of the five Tokyo Speedmasters I think the Rising Sun, and to a lesser extent, the Green, are the two most unique but this might hold their desirability back in the short term. The other three are mostly riffs on previous LE's so their popularity was almost guaranteed out of the gate. But there are tons of Pandas between the Mitsukoshi, Apollo 35th and modded dial watches. I think the Rising Sun will be very desireable long term even if the Japanese market is cool to them.

Fair enough. It appears to still be stickered at least partially, and really no Rising Sun being sold from within the US would be “new” in that at bare minimum it will have been sourced from a primary sale in Japan and seen who knows what between there and here

That's a good point I don't think I've ever really stopped and considered before, the distinction between "new" and "unworn". I have a Rising Sun that is "unworn", but you are correct, I don't think it should be considered "new" since it was originally sold in Japan, and I'm the second owner. It's in perfect condition obviously, but "new" seems like the wrong adjective.
