They make a fine product and are easy to deal with. Nomos is a great brand IMO.

I actually remember you commenting a while back that they were very well made. I always overlooked them as they seemed a little plain Jane (imo) but then someone here was selling a Doctors Without Borders limited edition one that looked really nice so I went deeper down the Nomos rabbit hole and started finding numerous models I really liked. Have you actually broke one down and had a full looksy?

Yes, I’ve serviced several. They aren’t big bulky watches, so not comparable to a diver, but are generally well made watches.

Here’s one that isn’t bad looking at all. 36 mm, $1550 USD. Photo from the NOMOS website.

I don’t think there really is a brand that is universally appealing, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t great watches for those who enjoy the design. I don’t like all their models, but for me they are more appealing than modern Rolex or Omega...

Great brand, great design. Can’t go wrong.

Unlike with Rolex which is total crap and just awful.

On the aesthetic front I don’t mind them but haven’t been madly in love with them either, they’re always very elegant yet distinctly German.

I sort of look at Nomos as the company IWC should have become, if it weren’t bought out by Richemont and run poorly.

My brother has the Neomatik Update 41 as his daily. Build quality is very good, feels somewhat vintage in hand, with a modern 'solid' feel. My cousin has the non-date version.

I'm particularly impressed by the OE deployant my brother added, feels exceptional in hand. I probably shouldn't be focused on the clasp, but the deployant really captured my imagination, moreso than the watch itself.

My brother replaced the OE strap straight away, he told me the OE one was garbage. If you zoom in on the pic below you can see the strap is quite thin at the buckle end and starting to fray.

Pics from Nomos' site.

The company that perpetually asks itself WWDRD (what would Dieter Rams do)

Odd, because most of their straps are shell cordovan. The strap on my Tangente is made of that, and it has stood up very well. These wear like iron, so wonder if that model has used a different material?

Had the Tangente, ended up selling it because I’m just a vintage guy. But the watch was pretty fantastic, very well made and held up - I travelled through Europe with that on my wrist and it served me very well.

I love them for what they are (bauhaus design, great value, good movements, etc)… but they are not for me. I just find them so so boring…. Which is only MY opinion.

In many ways, I sometimes have the same feeling about certain ALS references, but again, that does not take anything away from how amazing these watches are.

I only have the one piece, and it’s a fun, casual and eye catching thing to wear on weekends, etc. I’d ogled the brand for ages; very glad I jumped in. Solid piece, amazing value/quality especially considering their entry price point; no complaints or caveats to report. It’s a keeper.

I've not been able to get past the simplicity of the watch face: I continue to need "busy face".

Odd indeed, i bought 3 different cordovan straps from them since i was very impressed by the quality. For about 80-100,-€ you get a hand made in Germany strap, which looks really good.
After 6 months of almost daily wear still very robust.

Similarly, I liked the idea behind Nomos a long time before I was able to find a model with just the right details. If you like their design (and luckily, they do have numerous options), I just don’t see where you can go wrong with them
