Thoughts on this UG?

Hello all. I‘m thinking about buying this very simple UG. I really like the simple dial and the patina. I really can‘t find anything online regarding this specific model. It sells for about 400$. What do y‘all think?

I can't speak to the UG provenance.
Make sure it is not 30mm if you are expecting bigger!

Price seems OK for a punt,
but as with any vintage, you should be prepared to put some more $$ into future servicing.

Is it normal to have that gap around the movement?
Modern pieces have a movement holder ring.

See if you can figure out if the crown is original,
my guess it is that it is ... but often this is something that gets swapped out on vintage.

The dial imperfections have to appeal to you, but they are at least evenly distributed.

As you will have noticed, it seems to have a personalized inscription... as long as you are cool with that.
I can't make out all of it, but seems to read something like "Jean Baughs, Brigadier, 196X - 19XX"

Many vintage are plated cases, gold, chrome, whatever... this case looks pretty good whatever it is.

Hands, indices and dial text seem in good nick, but not suspiciously good.
Good luck!

The dial, hands, and mvmt look good to me, but this does not look like a UG case.

The double bubble caseback looks weird and the very large gap between the movement and case, plus the lack of an interior caseback shot showing UG stamping. But I could be wrong, just need to see more and better pics.

What does your caseback look like, inside and out, and how does the movement fit inside the case? Yours is SS ?

I agree, the case back in OP's watch is likely not correct.
Mine is a simple bubble back with UG stamping inside.

yours looks normal inside and out. The OPs not so much. I would be very curious to see the inside caseback of OP watch, and better pic of the outside (can't make out the markings). Again, I'm just raising questions, not making definitive statements.

I'm not a history buff but could it possible that UG came up with the specs and contracted the gold plated case to another company aside from Enversteel, thus explaining the slightly differences of the case?
